New Riders of the Purple Sage
April 25 2009
South Tucson, Arizona
El Casino Ballroom

presented by the Rhythm and Roots Alliance

The venue was a 1940s style ball room complete with a springy dance floor which made taping on the floor inpossible due to mic stand sway.  We taped at the soundboard area about 35 foot back.  The venue isn't quiet a music hall and is rarely used.  The speakers that were brought in were small Mackie and didn't add much sound really too much.  So this is a recording of the NRPS basically of their band and the amps, with a small small house system.  The Schoeps are just back from reconditioning in Germany thanks to Todd's desire for perfection!!!  They sound grate.  This is an unedited recording.  Not an ounce of signal processing was done to show the feel of what a solid Schoeps pull can be! The bass was mixed to one sub, mono.  It was located on the floor to the left side of the stage, so I pulled a tad left when I set up for the good low end. I think you'll enjoy.

- Huge Thanks to Todd Evans and Adam Gross
- Thanks to The NRPS crew for being a class act.  They are a grate group of people.
- buy their New CD
- track one is long and boring, skip it.  It's just house noise and show start stuff, included for posterity.
- apologies on the shotty setlist, im sure some knowledable person can help
- Ghost Train Blues (Hunter/Nelson) was a really amazing performance!
- The soundguy Scarecrow opened the show with a short acoustis performance

NEW CD IS IN THE CAN AND COMING SOON
The New Riders new studio CD (we still like to call them albums) entitled Where I Come From will be released sometime in May. It features 7 new songs written by David Nelson and Robert Hunter—"Where I Come From," "Big Six," "Barracuda Moon," "Down The Middle," "Blues Barrel," "Ghost Train Blues" and "Rockin' with Nona"—along with "Something In the Air" and "Carl Perkins Wears the Crown," both new ones from Michael Falzarano, plus live show favorites "Higher" by Johnny Markowski, "Olivia Rose" by Ronnie Penque and the classic "Them Old Minglewood Blues." Several tracks feature our good buddy Mookie Siegel sitting in on keyboards, and of course Buddy Cage is working his magic on the pedal steel, so get ready to get your minds blown and your butts rocked once this album hits your ears. We'll let you know the actual street and online sale date once we finalize the details.
