Notes from Jim Powell:

Patches & remastering by Dave Greenberg.  Uploads &
project coordination by Jim Powell.

This contains the complete show.  About 20 seconds
from the end of Gloria to the first six seconds of Why
Don't We Do It In The Road and 19 seconds from Uncle
John's Band (10:42 - 11:01) are patched in from AUD.
A 1 second glitch at the end of space (12:03) was also
fixed.

This show, the last of an important 6-show run at the
BCT in late '84, tends to be undeservedly overshadowed
by the previous night (11/2/84, which features the
Gimme Some Lovin breakout and lots else).  Highlights
of the 3rd include a solid first set featuring one of
the two or three 15-bar-blues versions of Down In The
Bottom and, in the second set Stranger > Cumberland,
the most jammed out version of Gloria they ever
played, and a splendid space > UJB > Mr. Fantasy.  The
Throwin Stones is also  strong.  Why Don't We Do It In
The Road is something of a car crash, but fun.

We've waited a long time to get this together.  It's a
pleasure to put it out.

01/21/2004 wik Regarding source info, what exactly is MSP? If it means PCM, why not say PCM as usual? Or does it mean master stereo porkchop? Or Minneapolis St Paul?
01/21/2004 jb I would guess this was actually mastered on cassette. Look at where the patches are. If you assume that the first flip would come between Roses and Music, then it's 45 minutes to the next patch between Gloria and Road and another 45 to the splice in UJB.
01/22/2004 Joe Jupille MSP probably = Master Soundboard PCM, in the same form as the better-known MSR, MSC, MAC, etc. This way seems fine to me, saves two letters.
10/04/2010 charliemiller This is from a cassette.
10/29/2010 charliemiller I currently have the 2nd set from the vault pcm > vault back up dat. It sounds much better than this and help prove that this source is from a cassette which has been heavily EQ'd to be passed off as a PCM. There are many greenberg/powell sources like this. Why would someone EQ a show and try to pas it off as something that it's not?
10/29/2010 charliemiller I forgot to mention that it sounds like there is horrible digital noise reduction between songs to help hide the hiss.
10/29/2010 charliemiller I also forgot to mention that the "PCM" source is off pitch which further proves that is is from an analog source.
11/06/2010 charliemiller The first set is 2.5% fast and the second set is 2.5% slow. That's a 5% difference between sets. This probably comes from two different cassette sources. I'm pretty sure that the first set is a 1st gen cassette (not a master).
11/06/2010 charliemiller sorry about the confusion, I only checked the 2nd set which was 2.5% slow, it was the other source that was fast.
