09/10/85 | Blossom Music Center, Cuyahoga Falls, OH | Audio CDR | 2 | | a | "The Dream of the Blue Turtle - Live" liberated boot. Some minor quality issues but the sound is quite good. The line-up includes Branford Marsalis (Sax), Kenny Kirkland (Keys), Daryl Jones (Bass), Omar Hakim (Drums) and Sting (Guitar, Vocals). Thanks Mike | | | 12/11/87 | Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti, Buenos Aires, Argentina | Audio CDR | 2 | | b+ | Complete concert from the liberated bootleg "An Englishman In The South". This is a great show that unfortunately suffers from less than perfect sound. A rare show. Thanks Lisa | | | 05/06/88 | Arena Di Verona, Verona, Italy | Audio CDR | 3 | | a+ | Parts of this show have circulated as one disc bootlegs titled "They Dance Alone" and "Machete", which appears to be what most traders have for this date. I have the complete show, all three discs, great soundboard quality and a fantastic show. Other than some intial sound issues in track one of disc one, the rest of the show is a solid A+ and a fantastic listen! There are three tracks of unknown filler at the end of disc three, including what sounds like Sting singing Human League's "Don't You Want Me?" in a Karaoke bar! Thanks Lisa | | | 07/27/88 | Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, CA | Audio CDR | 3 | | a | This is my 600th show and it is something very special. The liberated boot "Art Of The Heart" (Red Phantom RPBX 009/010/011), supposedly recorded for official release. The show occurred during the ?Nothing Like The Sun? tour, but was something quite unique. The normal NLTS shows were lasting about 130 minutes and were being performed only in huge stadiums or at special summer festivals. Just once, in a very small theatre in the heart of California, Sting made an exception. For 3,000 people only. The concert was played at the end of July, 1988, while Sting was again crossing the United States for the second part of the tour. 3000 people, all invited guests (no tickets were sold) saw an amazing three hour show. During the NLTS tour Sting changed the set list nearly every night. In addition, in Europe Sting also liked to perform at least one song in the language of the country he was performing. That night in California he played all those tunes, tracks in Spanish, French and German, as well as the complete program he had prepared for the new tour. There were also lots of covers, including Frank Zappa's ?The Idiot Bastard Son?. To date this is still believed to be the longest show of Sting?s entire career. Even some members of the band had the chance to perform some of their own material: Dolette McDonald, Delmar Brown, Kenny Kirkland and Branford Marsalis provided some very high quality moments. This is the complete recording, in full stereo, of that magical event, a "must" for any serious music aficionado (sorry Ed!) or Sting fan. The line up is: Sting (Guitar), Omar Hakim (Drums), Branford Marsalis (Tenor & Soprano Sax), Kenny Kirkland (Keys & Sax), Darryl Jones (Bass), Dolette McDonald (Vocals), Janice Pendarvis (Vocals), and Delmore Brown (Vocals). Thanks John | | | 10/20/90 | LA Forum, Los Angeles, CA | Audio CDR | 2 | | a+ | The year on this show is definitely wrong. The setlist appears to be correct so I am guessing the year is 1999 and this show is part of the series of shows Sting did in L.A. around this time to highlight the "Brand New Day" album. Excellent sound and an excellent performance. The artists on this show include: Dominic Miller (Guitar), Manu Katch? (Drums), Kipper (Keys, Vocals), Jason Rebello (Piano) and Cheb Mami (Vocals on "Dessert Rose"). Soundboard. Thanks Gordon | | | 03/05/91 | MTV Studios, New York, NY | Audio CDR | 2 | | a+ | "Unplugged". This show is from the MTV studio 8 track of Sting's Unplugged performance. Disc one is the rehearsal, with some interesting banter from Sting. Disc two is the MTV Unplugged show. Ed, thanks for depriving the Phisheads and feeding my craven Sting addiction! | | | 03/??/91 | Loading..., Chicago, IL | Audio CDR | 1 | | a++ | This awesome disc is the liberated bootleg "Complete Chicago Sessions" released on the "Kiss The Stone" label (KTS 275). The date is wrong: Tracks 1-7 were recorded during Sting's second Timothy White Session in June 1993. This was a couple of months after the release of the album Ten Summoner's Tales (which was released in March 1993). Tracks 8-16 were recorded during Sting's first Timothy White Session in March 1991. Both sessions were recorded in Chicago and were eventually broadcast by several U.S. radio stations, though this is NOT an FM version. It is a digital copy of the original studio masters. The sound is phenominal and the laid-back cut-down versions of the songs are absolutely mindblowing. They do an honest version of the Beatles track "A Day in The Life" with just four musicians, who are: Sting (Bass, Vocals), Dominic Miller (Guitar), Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums) and David Sanchez (Piano). This show really showcases the amazing talents of these four musicians and is a must have for, well, anyone but Ed really! Most etree traders only have the '91 or '93 sessions; this is both on the one disc as per the original bootleg. Thanks Bro | | | 07/02/91 | Casino Montreux, Montreux, Switzerland | Audio CDR | 2 | | a | Excellent acoustic show in the same vein as the infamous Timothy White sessions recorded in Chicago ealier the same year. The small but talented crew is also the same as in the Chicago sessions: Sting (Bass, Vocals), Dominic Miller (Guitar), Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums) and David Sanchez (Piano). Thanks Lisa | | | 10/02/91 | Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA | Audio CDR | 2 | | a+ | This is the liberated Italian boot "Live Cages" (Live Storm LSCD52607). The etree setlist is somewhat wrong for this boot; the correct setlist can be found at: http://www.seboots.com/
music/images/sting-livecages-b.jpg. Disc one is the 10/02/91 show of the "Soul Cages" Tour in Los Angeles, CA. Sting is recovering from laryngitis and lamenting the death of his parents but this is a fantastic show with some really interesting versions of his songs. During the finale Sting is joined by Andy Summers (a rare treat!), Vinx and Special Beat, a British group which opened for Sting during part of the tour. Disc two of this boot comes from the "Complete Chicago Sessions" boot that is also on my list under "Sting Compilations". It is the 1991 Timothy White studio sessions. It is fantastic but if you want this "Live Cages" boot I would recommend asking for the entire Chicago Sessions as disc two instead of just the 1991 sessions as per the original boot. Except for guests the lineup for both discs is: Sting (Bass, Vocals), Dominic Miller (Guitar), Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums) and David Sanchez (Piano). Thanks Lisa | | | ??/??/91 | The Soul Cages Demos, Studio, London | Audio CDR | 1 | | a- | I'm not exactly sure what this disc is! I have been informed that it is indeed the actual demo's for the "Soul Cages" album. Basically there are a lot of tracks that are on the album, only sounding slightly rougher. There are also other tracks that are not on the album like "Ain't No Sunshine" and some different language versions of tracks, including one that is not even sung by Sting. Sound OK for most of the disc, but being what it is I would think this would be a must have for die hard fans! This is a rare find. Thanks Marcus | | | 05/15/93 | Sam Boyd Silver Bowl, Las Vegas, NV | Audio CDR | 1 | | a+ | Sting performed with The Grateful Dead several times in 1993. On May 15 and 16, he played with them at the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl in Las Vegas. Note that this is NOT the audience taping of this show that has circulated for so long, but a soundboard show! Sounds great, with vocals and instruments all clear and strong, though a little adjustment on levels help. Unlike many other of the shows here on etree, this disc DOES include then end of Bring On the Night/When The World Is Running Down. Unfortunately it is a splice with the audience taping so the sound is not nearly as good, but at least you get to hear the whole show! There is also another track after that: Every Breath You Take. A big thanks to Mike for his generous gift of this rare find, and keeping the music alive! | | | 05/16/93 | Sam Boyd Silver Bowl, Las Vegas, NV | Audio CDR | 1 | | a+ | This is the partner show to the one above when Sting was playing with the Grateful Dead. Knowing that with such a fanatical following as the Deadheads the audience would contain many of the same people both nights, Sting ensured his sets were entirely different from night to night. Together they make a good set, and I agree with Adam that they should probably be traded as a set, but I'll always give you one or the other, as you wish. Of the two, I like this one better. Again this is the soundboard copy, not the audience one that has circulated for so long. Again the first song, the Beatles cover "Blackbird", is spliced from the audience tape, but it makes the show complete. The rest is great soundboard stuff. Sting does a number of different tracks in this set. He claims they are "Song's you know but we don't" but that is a stretch! Other than "Blackbird" and another Beatles cover "Pennylane", Sting and his band were very familiar with the other covers they do! Still this is a great mix of different material for the "Fucking Awesome Foursome", Sting, Dominic, Vinnie and Dave. According to Sting Sanchez even plays guitar on a rocking "Purple Haze". Be warned though, although it seems to have been adjusted, the beginning of that track has some chronic feedback and would not be nice to ears or speakers if cranked up. Great stuff. Again I can't thank Mike enough for his kindness! | | | 06/26/93 | Robert F. Kennedy Stadium, Washington, DC | Audio CDR | 1 | | a- | Another sweet set from Sting and his buddies in his supporting role for The Grateful Dead in 1993. This lovely full soundboard direct recording was supposedly made by a member of The Dead's lighting crew. As an extra bonus Jerry Garcia sits in on the end of Sting's set (?Walking on the Moon?, ?Consider Me Gone?, and ?Been Down So Long?). Don Henley also joins for the last track, ?Been Down So Long?. A fantastically generous and wonderful gift from a fantastic trader. Thanks so much Mike! | | | 08/21/93 | Radrennbahn, Hildesheim, Germany | Audio CDR | 2 | | a | This is the liberated boot "One Day Happiness" (Backstage BKCD 049/50). Has also circulated as the boot "Walk in Fields of Gold" (KTS 200/201). Powerful show. FM source. Sting (Bass, Vocals), Dominic Miller (Guitar), Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums) and David Sanchez (Piano). Thanks Lisa | | | 10/22/93 | Sportpaleis, Antwerp, Belgium | Audio CDR | 1 | | b+ | Interesting performance. Sting accompanied by a full orchestra which results in some very unique arrangements. Unfortunately the sound is less than fantastic. Setlist slightly different on my copy and I do not have the last track, "All You Need Is Love". My copy has some filler from a small and intimate Dutch show where Sting does a couple of his songs in acoustic mode with Dominic Miller on guitar. He then does a Q&A session with the crowd before heading off to film the video for the song "You Still Touch Me" on the Amsterdam canals. A very relaxed format. Again not great sound but some real fun stuff for fans. The filler songs are: "Lithium Sunset", "Message In A Bottle", and "I Hung My Head". Thanks Lisa | | | 03/25/94 | Estadio José Amalfitani, Buenos Aires, Argentina | Audio CDR | 2 | | a+ | Fantastic "Ten Summoner's Tales" show; they play every song from that album except "Something The Boy Said". Sting (Bass, Vocals), Dominic Miller (Guitar), Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums) and David Sanchez (Piano). James Taylor & Mercedes Sosa guest. Rare soundboard show. Thanks Lisa | | | 10/31/94 | Seagaia World Convention Center Summit, Ocean 45, Miyazaki, Japan | Audio CDR | 2 | | a+ | This is a fantastic soundboard show from the tour supporting the "Ten Summoner's Tales" album. The line up is: Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums) doing his usual bombastic and sickeningly grooving work, David Sancious (Keys) playing brilliant organ and piano solos, Dominic Miller (Guitar) doing his trademark textured playing, and, of course Sting, going absolutely balls-out on the bass. Excellent show! Disc two has a bunch of filler that I think comes from the Mandella Festival and Live Aid. Thanks Bruce | | | 07/15/96 | VH1 Storytellers @ Stephen Talkhouse, Amagansett, NY | Audio CDR | 1 | | a | Sting takes the storyteller concept seriously and chats in-depth about his songs and songwriting technique, often stopping mid-track to highlight some point. The line-up is: Dominic Miller (Guitar), Kenny Kirkland (Keyboards), Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums) and Sting (Bass, Guitar, Vocals...and Piano!). The setlist for this show is wrong. The disc ends after track nine. This is a rare show and a must have for those who love Stings work. Thanks Bill | | | 10/29/99 | Universal Amphitheatre, Los Angeles, CA | Audio CDR | 1 | A+ | a+ | Fantastic soundboard show - commercial quality. Everyone is on fire. Guests include Cheb Mami and Stevie Wonder. Part of a string of shows Sting did to promote the "Brand New Day" album at the Universal Amphitheater. Boot names seem to vary. My liberated copy came labeled "Desert Skies". Awesome stuff. It doesn't get much better than this if you like this era of Sting's work. Thanks Mike! (and Murray too, BTW!!) | | | 03/28/00 | Royal Albert Hall, London, England | Audio CDR | 2 | | a+ | Another fantastic soundboard show from the Albert Hall. Manu Katch? is, as always, awesome! Thanks Lisa | | | 04/06/00 | Royal Albert Hall, London, England | Audio CDR | 2 | | a+ | Fantastic show with great sound. Sting does a funky take on the bass line in "Roxanne". The show features Manu Katch? on Drums (one of the world's finest drummers, though I don't think he quite does justice to Vinnie's chops on "Seven Days" in this show) and Cheb Mami (Mohamed Khelifati - "the greatest singer in the world" and king of ra? music) for the duet "Dessert Rose". My disc two has lots of fun filler including a couple of acoustic numbers with just Sting and Dominic Miller at what sounds like a small private party. The set ends up more like a comedy routine than a concert! Then there is Peter Gabriel doing "Biko" (no Sting that I can tell! Yes, I know that is a good thing for you Ed!). Then two live tracks of Sting singing in Spanish. All in all, a great find! Thanks Marcus | | | 07/09/00 | Post Gazette Pavilion at Star Lake, Burgettstown, PA | Audio CDR | 2 | | a | In my opinion (a view definitely not shared by my good ABBA loving mate Ed!) you can't go wrong with anything involving Mr Summner and his talented friends! My disc two has heaps of filler with Sting and other performers such as Branford Marsalis and Phil Collins. Great audience taping. Thanks Bill | | | 09/12/00 | Central Park, New York, NY | Audio CDR | 2 | | a- | Rare show that has circulated as the bootleg, "A Walk in the Park". An absolutely phenomenal performance despite less than perfect sound and some radio voice-overs. Sherryl Crow guests on "Fill Her Up". Thanks Scott | | | 01/16/01 | Estadio José Amalfitani, Buenos Aires, Argentina | Audio CDR | 2 | | a- | Great show. Unfortunately the sound is a little muddy for a soundboard show. Thanks Lisa | | | ??/??/01 | Tantra - 12 disc B-sides & Rarities Collection, Studio, Compilation | Audio CDR | 12 | | a+ | WooHoo! This is the one! An extremely rare and amazing eclectic collection of all sorts of Sting material. Studio, live, remixes, soundtracks, B-sides, alternate versions, TV appearances, it is all here! Sting at home, Sting reciting poetry, Sting solo, Sting acoustic, Sting with a host of other performers. 12 (count them!) 12 discs of very varied and insightful material. A big fat Aussie thanks has to go to the man, Captain VB, the crazy seppo who went out of his way to set me up with this amazing collection. John, my left nut is in the mail. My right arm, a case of Coopers and half of Tasmania will follow soon. Thanks sooo much mate. John VB is da man! | | | 01/04/03 | Web/TV Compilation, Various, Various | Audio CDR | 1 | | a | This is an eclectic mix of all sorts of TV, radio and other live performances. Some interesting versions of songs; on an acoustic version of "Seven Days" Sting encourages Vinnie to do a tamborine solo! The order of tracks on the etree setlist is slightly off but it is close. Quality varies but overall it is a solid A. A rare find. Thanks Lisa | | | 09/12/03 | Mermaid Theatre, London, England | Audio CDR | 1 | | a+ | This is a fantastic sounding recent show for Sting and his talented cohorts. It is a BBC 2 radio broadcast showcasing Stings new (and, in my opinion, less than stellar) material. Despite the less than fantastic material it is still a sweet show, and many of the new songs stand up better in the live format than on the sterile commercial release. Nearly all the band members for this (supposedly "under-rehearsed") show appeared on the album. The lineup is: Kipper (Keys, Vocals), Dominic Miller (Guitar), Jason Rebello (Piano), Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums), Joy Rose (Vocals), and Donna Gardier (Vocals). Thanks Steve | | | 10/02/04 | Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA | Audio CDR | 2 | | a | Incredible audience taping. This very nice show comes from the "Sacred Love" tour. In fact it is the 101st show of the tour, and also Sting's 53rd birthday. Gotta love his attitude - "Halfway to my 106th"!! As mentioned above, I think "Sacred Love" was a pretty poor effort from Senor Summner, but again the material works better live than on the sterile studio album. Some interesting takes on tracks. Annie Lennox joins for one track and the jam normally found in "When the World is Running Down..." pops up as part of "Never Coming Home" off the new album. Very sweet find, a wonderful and very generous gift from Tree Sister. Many thanks! | | | 09/24/05 | Sluzewic Horse Racing Ring, Warsaw, Poland | NTSC DVD | 1 | A+ | a+ | DVD - PROSHOT Polish TV
Silver Stallion DVD Production. I call this "Sting Covers The Police"! Of the 19 tracks, only 6 are from Sting's solo albums (and, noticeably, nothing from his latest, lame release, "Sacred Love" - thankfully!). The lions share of material are all Police tracks. Back to the Bass, Drums and Guitar lineup, though there is an extra Guitar, plus a background track for certain sounds and instruments not on stage. My brother (from Aussie band "Shifter") met some of Sting's Management in L.A. recently and they said Sting was going back to a more "rock" based format - and this must be the result. The lineup is: Sting (Bass/Vocals),
Dominic Miller (Guitar), Shane Fontayne (Guitar), and Josh Freese (Drums). Freese is a prot?g? of Vinnie's (but more "rock" based) and he is a true animal in this show! Definitely more of a "rock" sound to this show. There is a break in the middle - possibly some missing material? - but this is fantastic stuff. Recent, rare, and great quality! Enjoy! Thanks AlexsDogPound
