David Sancious - grand piano
On Sunday, December 14, 1980, during the ten minutes' silence organized in memory of the recently-murdered John Lennon, David Sancious performed an extended improvisation based upon Lennon's Across the Universe. Commissioned by New York radio station WNEW-FM, the solo piano performance was broadcast live, with no audience present, from the empty stage of the Capitol Theatre.
