Dusk *
Produced by Alec Reid. * was also recorded, but never broadcast. First broadcast on BBC's "Night Ride" 4/1/70. Rebroadcast on BBC's "Saturday / Sunday Night Rock Show" circa 1989. Available sources from the original SBD: - "Genesis BBC Recordings" - "The Almost Complete BBC Sessions 1970-1972" - "The Shepherd" (which also includes: Twilight Alehouse (72), Watcher Of The Skies (72), Get 'Em Out By Friday, Musical Box. Note: There is no audience on the original recording of the 1970 tracks. Some releases of these songs have audience applause dubbed into the mix.

Disc 1 A. Nightride (2/22/70) 70.01 Shepherd (4:00) 70.02 Pacidy (5:41) 70.03 Let Us Now Make Love (6:13) 70.04 Stagnation (8:03) - much different than Trespass 70.05 Looking For Someone (7:18) - alt lyrics and different ending - quite different than Trespass version *note: Dusk was also performed, but it's not circulating *note2: I've got Stagnation from two sources - one with applause dubbed in at the end and one without. The recording without the dubbed applause is inferior as it has more static and distortion. I prefer the cleaner version with the dubbed applause. Using SoundForge I've removed the applause. It is now 8:03. Both tracks have minor dropouts throughout. From the Genesis Discography: "Some releases of these songs have audience applause dubbed into the mix -- this is not in the original. These are studio recordings." B. Sounds Of The Seventies (5/10/71) 71.01 The Musical Box (11:54) - substantial lyric variation 71.02 Stagnation (8:52) - closer to Trespass version C. Sounds Of The Seventies (1/9/72) 72a.01 Harold The Barrel (3:01) - longer ending; more piano notes than on LP version (3:00) 72a.02 Harlequin (2:37) - full ending, not fade-out guitar notes as on LP (2:56) 72a.03 The Return Of The Giant Hogweed (7:31) - cut-off a second or two early - faster, shorter than LP version (8:10) - drums barely audible, less instrumentation? *note: Fountain Of Salmacis was also part of this but it's not circulating *note2: These are the lowest quality recordings of the BBC tapes.
Disc 2 D. In Concert (3/2/72) 72b.01 Fountain Of Salmacis (10:07) 72b.02 The Musical Box (10:57) 72b.03 The Return Of The Giant Hogweed (7:44) *note: These sound particularly great E. Sounds Of The Seventies (9/25/72) 72c.01 Twilight Alehouse (8:08) 72c.02 Watcher of The Skies (7:47) 72c.03 Get 'em Out By Friday (8:51) *note: Also very good SQ ___________________ Sources of tracks A.
