Comments:

First of two nights for Jeff Tweedy's annual benefit concert for his kids' school. Good performance and setlist, and as usual Jeff was very witty and engaging with his between-song banter. The show featured a couple of first-ever performances and good covers, as well as a good dose of rarities and Uncle Tupelo material. The two hours flew by quickly. My personal favorite was the quiet version of "Sunloathe," a song I didn't like on the album until I heard this version. The stripped-down "Art of Almost" was great as well, and got the biggest applause of the night.

The recording is very good-to-excellent; I haven't heard how the other version on DIME compares yet, but I was surprised at how good the sound was. Kudos to the audience members around me who were hip to taping (one woman told me how she used to attend Bob Dylan shows as a kid, and her mom usually taped) and were extremely considerate -- there is very little interference near the mic, which is a rarity for quiet acoustic shows. I was really pleased with how good this sounds.

Audio Cleaning Lab was used to pump up the high frequencies a bit to compensate for the room and make the recording sound a little more lively; it was also used to bring down the volume of the between-song applause and diminish the effect of the stupid audience member (me) who had a coughing jag during one of Jeff's intros.

Mp3 samples are included in the comments.
