LDB Vintage Series #073

Hi there! After closing both my Master and Special series I took a break from seeding, enjoying life and most of all
preparing for a new series! This is not going to be as frequent as my previous ones, I'll be seeding shows from time
to time so don't expect massive volumes here.

Why a "vintage" series? Because music in the 70's and 80's was really something...so different, so special with "that" kind
of sound which you don't find anymore. That was the era of real music without the internet, of long tours and enjoyable live
shows spanning from metal to new wave, progressive, jazz, fusion, pop. So many bands were born and disappeared during those
two decades.

I am then celebrating the 70's and the 80's and their unmistakeable sound in this LDB Vintage Series. You will find many bands
I have never seeded in the past but that I still enjoy listening to. Most of these come from low generation tapes that were traded
around that period, many radio broadcasts and overall lots of surprises.

Hope you will enjoy this new series!

I have been transferring the whole of the RLR collection for many years. That was a massive collection of over 1,400 tapes which
he has traded or recorded between the late 70's and mid 90's. Any sort of music was there: from metal to jazz.

When I went to his place about one year ago he gave me the last bunch of 200 tapes which included around 70-80 without any label: no
indication of band, venue, date, no written note, nothing at all. THAT is the ultimate challenge to listen to each of them and try to figure
out who the hell is playing, from which tour, city and date. But it is an exciting exercise, especially when, after extensive internet
browsing and careful listen I can define all the details.

This one was a bit tricky to find and honestly I am not very sure about venue and date. Setlist was a pretty standard one from the Back in Black
tour 1980/81 and from the recording you can gather that: 1)it was recorded in France (people chatting in french) and 2) it was recorded by an
italian guy with lots of italians nearby him (you can hear very funny comments in italian nearby the taper). That was the time very few bands were
touring Italy and there were buses from Italy to take the people to see rock concerts in Swizerland, south France or south Germany. I have attended
some of these in the mid-80's and it was quite usual that italians would make much more noise than the local audience, bearing italian flags. And
the best thing that could happen is that the artist would acknowledge the presence and welcome the italians.

That must have been the case here too, as before Sin City Brian Johnson would greet the italian audience with a few words in my language (Ciao!
Ciao Ragazzi!). The show could not have been recorded in Italy since AC/DC did not tour the country in those years.

Looking at the setlist and given the presence of the rare version of Rocker, all elements would lead to think that the show had taken place in
Grenoble (only 60-70 km from the italian boarder). When I enquired to RLR he clearly remembered to have Grenoble 1981 is his collection (he also had
Lyon 1980 but there Rocker was not performed) so that is why there is a good chance this is from Grenoble. Any AC/DC die-hard fan could let me know!

Soundwise this is not excellent (I would say 7/10) but it must be a low-generation tape because RLR used to trade with lots of tapers that were travelling
abroad to see rock concerts. Also, I tend to think this was the complete performance although strangerly enough The Jack is not there.

Enjoy this piece of history of hard rock!
