Jerry Garcia Band
Keystone Palo Alto; Palo Alto, CA
11/3/78

MAC > R > CDx2 > EAC > SHN (I & IIp) +
MSC > 2C > CD > EAC > SHN (end of set II).

The aud tape, recorded by Mike Riley with
unknown gear, supplies set I and the first
two songs of set II.  The taper was busted
after Gomorrah.  For that material, Michael
Parrish's first gen reels were transferred
directly to CD, w/ no DAT stage.  A nice soundboard,
apparently (per Kevin Tobin) from a cassette master and
with two subsquent cassette gens, supplies the end of
set II. Shntool confirms proper sector boundaries for all tracks.

05/05/2003 Joe Jupille I was way off in my guess about the soundboard source. It is very probably MSC > 2C > Sony TC-WE435 > Cool Edit Pro > CD Wave > CD > unknown CD gens before the copy that I .shn'd.
04/25/2004 Lewis/Klitschko No full soundboard available for this show? Unusual that a soundboard is being used soley to patch the aud 'cause the taper got busted, no? Does the answer have something to do with Deborah Koons?
04/26/2004 Joe Jupille The story that I got from Kevin Tobin is that Garcia gave a 60-minute cassette of the soundboard to someone, identifying this show as one of his (Garcia's) favorites. Or something like that. So, the sbd material that circulates seems to derive from that cassette, which is only part of the show.

Unusual to patch the partial aud with the sbd material? I don't know, if the material would otherwise be missing it seems to make sense, or it did to me when I put the aud+sbd composite together.
04/26/2004 Lewis/Klitschko I meant that it's unusualy for a soundboard to be used SOLEY as patching material, and there to be no soundboard version in circulation. Not that it's a big deal, but I haven't seen that before.
