I made a PROMISE to the person who gave me this back in 1981 to NOT give it out.
Here it is 34 YEARS later in 2014 & I have keep that promise....up until NOW.
The word WAS...it came from a girl who didn't want to fall out of good graces with the band.
She asked that it NOT be shared.
That promise I made has been respected for 34 YEARS.
Now that I am letting go of it, I STILL feel BAD for beaking my WORD.
I DID PROMISE not to share it.
I am OLD SCHOOL.
A promise is a promise. I take great pride that I am a man of my word because THAT is ALL we have, our WORD.
Being THAT, in 2014, I think it may be time I let GO without fear I am doing anyone wrong.
It has been 34 YEARS.
I was told, there were actually 4 TAPES of these rehearsal sessions.
This came from an un named girl who kindly shared this tape with an old friend of mine who supplied me with at LEAST 75% of the tapes I have collected since begening of my tape collecting in the Fall of 1977.
This is a RARE glimpse into one of the BEST BANDS EVER....that's right...EVER...to learn & work out some new songs as they prepared for a tour & an LP release.
I first made the TAPE > CDR transfer in 2004.
It was a rough one to track.
I tried many many times to get it "just exactly perfect".
That was never quite accomplished & after X amount of tries, I gave up on perfect tracking.
SO,....here it IS, best I could manage some 34 YEARS later from 2 CD's I made back in 2004 from 1 4th gen (?) cassette tape I got in 1981.
Tapes played on a Sony TC-W320 > a Marantz CDR 500 CDR recorder (2004) > (March 21st 2014) EAC > wav > flac level 8
Raw tape transfer, unedited, shared at LL, 03/21/2014 (in honor of my CAR which turns 21 years OLD TODAY..!)

I supplied the tape for this source and it was circulated in 2014. (the date on the tape was 6/20/81) There is a newer 2022 source from cassette that is dated 6/21/1981 that was supplied by a different person. You can find that transfer here -> https://etreedb.org/shn/157444 Because of the dates being different by 1 day we don't see that source on this page. The material looks to be the same tunes on both source tapes. Also notice the two different dates -> https://etreedb.org/db/shows/browse/artist_key/16947/year/1981 The tunes look to be the same on both source tapes. Mine are a tad more detailed as text and it was a rough one to list and track with all the talk between songs. I don't know how they may differ in quality but I can't wait to compare them side by side. MY version has at least 2 known gens and there were supposed to be another 3 tapes from these studio session/s but those cassettes never surfaced. |

OK, these ARE NOT the same recordings ! I trust the date/s to be correct for both seeds and the new source has The Women Are Smarter included twice. My older seed dated as 6/20/81 did NOT have that song included on the source tape I was given back in 1981. They are different recordings done on consecutive days in the studio according to the dates which I trust to be correct now that I am sure these are different recordings. |
