notes:
-I love Antibalas but knew nothing about Zap Mama going in - the billing looked good enough to check out, as was the ticket price ($19!). The Fox is a great
place to see a show no matter what. Zap Mama is led by vocalist Marie Daulne from Belgium - she had 4 supporting othwer female vocalists supporting her
and they used their voices as instruments to make noises/mimic instruments on top of singing in what sounded to me like South African choir singing, but
apparently is of Congolese influence. Adding the talented members of Antibalas to back them up was an incredible blend - very unique! I\'ve seen Antibalas a
number of times and they just seemed so BIG/strong this night - their 3 tunes without Zap Mama are so hot they may melt your speakers! Their professional
muicianship just oozes with confidence yet is delightfully playful! Very Fela like! Turn it way up and get ready to move!
-place wasn\'t even half full - many people missed a great opprtunity to see a great show for a low price. That being said, most of us were up out of our
seats in no time and the security graciously allowed us to stretch out and dance unimpeded. Every person\'s face that I looked at on way out had a shit-
eating grin like their sockets had been zapped!
-recorded right behind the board dead center mics about 5\'6\" up on an ascending floor. Excellent sound - an \"A-\" for sure. Turn it up!
-another Sonoran Desert Recording recorded, mastered and seeded by Matt23. Do not sell ever for any reason, but share freely in lossless formats only:
keep the gene pool clean!
-You\'d be foolish to miss this unique pairing if you get chance to see them - \'nuff said! Support the artists - go see them!
