! metadata: The old filesets purporting to present material from this show, shnid-11048 and shnid-17257 actually present material from 6/16/79, except for TWLWMYD, which is from 6/22/79. We presume 7/22/79 was a two-set show, but we don't know which set(s) the tunes here might be from, nor whether they are in the correct order.

! review: [negative] Goldman 1979. He leads with the Deadheads there to worship Jerry, continuing "perhaps an undiscerning crowd is exactly what Reconstruction needs to bolster its ego during formative stages. Though the individual musicianship is above average, the group's mixed brew of rhythm and blues, traditional blues and rudimentary jazz never moved beyond the realm of the ordinary. ... Jerry Garcia is a marginally talented guitarist. His solos --often employing clusters of 16th notes executed in ascending registers-- are rarely inventive, yet his every note was treated as if it were nectar from the gods." He concluded that w/o JG to draw the adoring fans, Reconstruction might be "a more likely candidate for a Holiday Inn lounge". (The band did stay at the Holiday Inn this night, on Coronado in Santa Monica, though there's no indication whether they played the lounge.)

! t03 (1) Gaylord: "Thank ya largely. Ron Stallings, telling his friends about you."

! t07 (2) Ron Stallings: "Merl Saunders! Merl Saunders!" Merl: "Ron Stallings!" RS: "Merl Saunders." MS: "Ron Stallings". RS: "John Kahn on bass. Gaylord Birch on drums. Ed Neumeister on trombone. [Jerry starts noodling "English Country Garden".] Jerry Garcia on guitar [big cheer]. Jerry Garcia on guitar!" JGMF commenter notes that "English Country Garden" is "an English folk song that was popularized by Percy Grainger" -- https://jgmf.blogspot.com/2022/06/tuning-ditty-identification-request.html?showComment=1656413778894#c5001292602208285516.

08/03/2022 1478 It was reported in 08/2022 "I can add a couple things for the notes. This was a two set show. The first set started with Getting Better, followed by Someday Baby, Fast Tone, What I Would Not Do (not sure about that song title), The Jealous Kind and I'll Take a Melody. Second set started with Tellin' My Friends."
