A listener had a question about the Looks Like Rain in this shn set compared to previously-circulating shns. I have compared 2 versions side by side. 1) old version http://db.etree.org/shninfo_detail.php?shnid=163 d1t6, tot track length 5:46, song length in track ~5:35 2) this newer version http://db.etree.org/shninfo_detail.php?shnid=1580 d1t7, tot track length 6:45, song length in track ~6:35 (note ~1 extra minute) Version 2 has an obvious reel splice at 3:44, cutting in on the partial "tie you down, fence you in lines" verse and continuing to the subsequent "all right I love you" part and then on to the end. Version 1 has a non-obvious- probably in fact beat-perfect and level-matched- splice somewhere around 3:40 which goes straight from the jam into the same "all right I love you" mentioned above and then on to the end. Presumably the intent in that copy was to create a smooth listening experience at the expense of a partial verse. This Version 2 is thus more complete- although more jarring- and probably reflects the original splice on the master reels. |
