DAARWIN-24 Laptop (VXPocket, Win2K CLEAR OS build v2.1, Sonic Foundry Vegas Video 2.0).
Tracked into separate files using Sound Forge 5.0, compressed with Monkeys Audio Compressor v3.91b1.
Only trims and fades at start and ends of sets were performed. No other processing was performed, with
exception to what is contained in the comment section below.
Using SF 5.0, show was then tracked into separate files, converted to 44.1kHz at highest quality setting,
reduced to 16-bit with triangular 2-bit (peak to peak) dither and Equal Loudness Contour Noise shaping,
and mastered onto audio CD's using CD Architect.
Comments from Dan:
This show was a cooker... Smokin' toast from the mighty toaster. Generally a very respectable and respecting
audience. Pin drop quiet in many places. Sounds killer!
There's some kind of loud clap or tap or (yikes) pop at about 66:40 in the second set. ???
Don't know what it was, but I rendered it virtually inaudible with a little sample level editing action...
Also, in order to prove to a patching taper that he was getting signal before the second set started, I
cranked the right channel on the V2 for a couple for a second and cranked it back down just in time
before the 1st tune of set 2 started. This right channel level anomaly affected Rodney's drumstick count-off,
but not the actual tune. I spent some time correcting it, rendering it almost totally inaudible. There were
a couple of deadspots in level when I did the level cranking, which resulted in two teeny tiny sections of
100 samples or less of almost pure DC with no signal. They are listed as follows:
Could not be corrected after fixing right channel level anomaly 00:03:45:13 00:03:45:13 00:00:00:00
Could not be corrected after fixing right channel level anomaly 00:03:44:17 00:03:44:17 00:00:00:00
You'd have to have one kickass ear to hear any of this ever happened after I fixed it, but other tapes that
might circulate from my source will probably have this anomaly, unless someone else did as good a job in
repairing it as I have, as I consider it completely undetectable unless playback is cranked to 110dB
(for you 24-bit folks), and even then, it's meaningless and again, before the music really starts.
It's visible in Sound Forge though.
