04/26/2004 | Jason Moleton | I have had an unknown audience analog source of this show for years that absolutely smokes. It was recommended by an old tape trading friend and became an instant favorite solely because of the dynamics of the source. I was hoping I had found it again on the Jeff Silberman Sennheiser 441 shn source, but upon further listening, I was disappointed. I realized right away, it was not the same source. The Silberman source sounds good, but the vocals sound a little muddy in my opinion. In comparison, my analog source has incredible reverb all the way through, that enhances the sound, and is very out front on the vocals. It really allows those of us that were not there to feel like we were in 1983 listening to a pristine classic unfold right in front and all around us. Unfortunately, I do not have the exact audience source(unknown mics) for my analogs that is definitely different than the Jeff Silberman source. I am not saying I am a sound expert, but even to the untrained ear, my tapes are different and better than the Jeff Silberman shn audience source(sorry Jeff). This analog audience source I speak of is, however, one of the best outdoor audience analog tapes I have, hands down. When I was trading and/or giving away tapes a few years back, I would always include this. I would definitely like to upgrade from the analog source I speak of to shn quality. This would replace my Jeff Silberman source on shn. Can anyone help in identifying the source and/or trade for it? How about uploading to tol.etree.org at the least? It's somewhere out there, so I would be willing to part with anything of your choosing. My list is db.etree.org/jmoleton Thanks. |
