02/07/2003 | Peter Braverman | I don't believe this is a soundboard -- one listen to the word "block" at the beginning of "Stuck Inside of Mobile..." (as in "up and down the block" in the first verse) should convince folks of this. I have NEVER heard a soundboard where Healy applied this kind of echo on vocals. Sure, it's a damn good audience, but it sounds like lots of audience tapes made on flat fields, such as Ventura. Anybody confirm one way or another?
02/07/2003 | there are tons of sbd/matrix recordings from the 80's & 90's where Healy manipluated the vocals - check out the Memphis Blues from 10/9/89 the echo effect is similar to the one described above.

It was a hell of a show as I remember. Everyone got in, Quinn was everywhere, and the world was our playground. The show was spectacular, the atmosphere magical with a small airport right next to the speedway airplanes were flying trails all night. A rockin show for dancing your bones into the gtound with a beautiful Crazy Fingers. |

The SBD is very similar to other Healy matrix-boards, just as noted here above. Personally i?m in favour of the fantastic FOB but knowing that there is a SBD circulating, this may very well be one of Healy?s matrixes which captured the audience very clearly. But you cannot go wrong with the FOB - Phil?s bombs during Morning Dew is outrageous!! Crank those subwoofers! |
