Tech Notes

I used EAC in secure mode to extract all tracks at 100%
no reported errors.  Cool Edit Pro 2.0 was used to align &
synch both sources.  CEP2.0 used to adjust the volume
for the center and LFE channels.  Surcode CD Pro DTS was
used to encode to DTS.  -3db was NOT applied to the rear
channels.  Both of the  sources for the front and rear
channels were left at their original levels.

Notes

Known Flaws:
1.2 second digital error at approx. 10:35 to 10:37 in Scarlet
was patched using my 10 year old DAT copy that was labeled:
SBD: Master Reel > DAT.  The result is smooth and most likely
undetectable.

Crowd cheer/tuning between Estimated and St. Stephen was missing
on the AUD source.  I used a "crowd cheer/tuning" from another
portion of the same Aud recording.  I also shortened the overall
length by a minute.  No music is missing and it came out sounding
smooth and natural.

The first set was riddled with btwn song cuts and had several
cuts in songs on both the SBD and the AUD.  It is possible to
make a DTS and a matrix mix for set one but the final result
will be very "choppy".  Maybe someday but for now, enjoy this!

More On DTS

Today's audio standards are moving towards multi-channel sound,
like DTS and Dolby Digital.  While the Audio-CD standard (Red Book)
hasn't changed to accommodate these new sound formats, it is still
possible to go around the specification and to put a 5.1 surround
recording on a regular Audio-CD.  To play a DTS-Audio-CD you must
connect your DVD/CD player via a digital cable (optical or coaxial)
to your DTS Dolby-Digital receiver. It is not 100% sure that your
receiver will recognize a DTS-Audio CD, so the first time you're
trying to playback a DTS-Audio-CD you must do a test to determine
if it can. Begin with the volume very low, start the disc and rise
the volume gradually. NEVER listen to a DTS-Audio-CD through the
analogue audio outputs of your CDDVD player.

Burning Instructions
Burn them the absolute same way as you would burn any normal Audio-CD
from .shn files.

12/01/2004 Diana Darrin wrote about this DTS version:
"When using the shn plugin on my pc (p4, 2.8ghz, 512mb ram), I've been unable to burn cds at speeds faster than 4x without the "burn proof" feature kicking in to prevent buffer underruns. I have no such problem when burning flac files and therefore summarily convert all shns I download to flac once downloaded. Bottom line, sorry for the confusion caused by my inadvertently circulating a second version of this fine dts mix of a great show and rest assured that this flac version has no intermediate dae/etc. steps."
12/01/2004 Diana Summary of some other formerly misplaced comments, now on correct version:
-Gary reported flac version being in circ (md5's above)
-Darrin replied, "That would be my doing -- I converted the shns I downloaded off of the bt.etree.org bittorrent of the above version directly to flac using dbpoweramp so I could burn directly to audio cd using flac's nero plugin and must have sent the flacs up to tol instead of the shns. The flac versions are bit-perfect identical to the shns originally circulated, just in flac format instead of shn."
-Charles then asked, "Why not just use the Nero SHN plugin, nxMySHN.dll? It works the same as the FLAC plugin, nxMyFLA.dll."
-Charlie Miller followed up, "I was not aware of the shn plugin...where do I put the .dll with win2k? cm"
12/01/2004 Gary To make matters worse, I'll point out that these DTS sources are lossy and pobably shouldn't even be listed here. There is more info here.
12/02/2004 Diana There also appears to be developing info here, mentioning that Dan voluntarily pulled his seed(s) off bt.
12/02/2004 Diana BTW re listing "here" as in http://db.etree.org/shncirc, if something's been circulating in shn or flac then it belongs in this listing, whether lossy-sourced or not. It's part of the historic record of shn and flac sets in circulation. Example: An mp3-sourced version of some Phish show went around years ago in shn. Its listing here was instructive: that it existed, that a better version was needed for circ, and not to circulate the mp3>shn item further.
12/10/2004 kevin The flac files posted to tol do not rip to DTS-Audio on a plain CD-R.

I used Nero with the flac plug-in to burn directly from the flac files and it only records two tracks to the CD.

What's the exact process for burning this disc?
12/10/2004 Darrin this should be burned/treated like any other audio cd -- and NOT burned as a data disk, etc.

I simply selected all of the flacs and burned them to an audio disk -- played fine in my dvd player as a dts surround.
