YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND
December 30th 2001
Mississippi Nights
St Louis MO
Soundboard recording of unknown lineage
Acoustic encore is quiet but very listenable.
THE SHOW:
First night of a 2 night NYE stand (the only time theyve played
outside Colorado for New Years) find a finely balanced setlist.
Theyre obviously holding back some "big" songs for NYE itself,
but theyre also celebrating the birthday of John Hartford in the
man's hometown , so four Hartford vehicles get the full treatment.
Adams playing on a stool with his leg in a cast, so he's unsurprisingly
pretty laid back; Noam Pickelny sits in for the whole 2nd set, which
makes this a very banjo heavy show. Highlights are a superb Dawns Early
Light in set one, and the longest ever (20 minute) No Expectations in
set 2.
