05/11/2001 Rob Garland A great show and a superb recording! This was the best SCI show I have ever had the priviledge to see or hear (ymmv). The info file says that d2t01 is split into 2 tracks. This is incorrect. Track 1 and 2 are identical. Unfortunately there is no conversion information provided. A quick check with shntool shows that the tracks were not cut on sector boundaries (easily fixed). At any rate this is in no way a complaint, just a FYI for the masses. Like I said, this is a SUPERB recording and I highly recommend checking this show out. All the same, keep your eyes open for a fixed seed if one should circulate.
05/14/2001 Matt Tirey All in all I am satisfied with this source. I was at this show, and I thought they had the bass cranked a little too high. It might have just been the venue though. It was the first time I have been to Vet.'s so I can't compare to another show. You can really tell what I mean when they played Shakin' the Tree. Ian set the levels nice and the bass even though really present does not effect the overall sound IMHO. Nice job. That is my $.02 on this source.
05/15/2001 Rob Garland I have circulated an updated version of this seed which corrects the following problems:
1. d2t1 and t2 were identical and redundant. I deleted the extra track and renamed the remaining 3 tracks. 2. The files were not seperated by directory and had a single md5 for all 3 discs. I seperated the tracks into a folder for each disc and created md5's for each disc. 3. d1t01 and d1t02 were not cut on proper sector boundaries, I corrected this with SHNTOOL. 4. I added fades to d1t01, d1t07, d2t01 and d3t04. I also cut out about 1 minute of post-show crowd noise from d3t04 to save downloading time. 5. Created a new info file which you are currently reading. The new info file lists the correct source (OTS and not 1st row balcony), as well as the conversion info which was not included in the original version. 6. Encoded to Shorten with mkwACT 0.97 to add seeking. You can identify the newer seed by it's sci2001-04-27-fixed.shnf name. Enjoy!
06/06/2001 cat I like this one better than the tlm170 recording. A bit less detailed and sounds rolled off in the high and low end, but the emphasis in the mids brings the sound a bit "closer" than the tlm170 recording so the ambient room sounds aren't as distracting.
06/11/2001 Brad I removed 4 pops from this one using Cooledit Pro version 1.2a: (d1t2 9:53), (d1t5 4:51), (d1t5 4:53), (d1t5 5:14). The fixed md5 is above and is circulating named "sci2001-04-27d1fixed.md5"
