08/12/2002 | RMS | Epic, epic show. The source is not fantastic, but it is very good compared with other 1995-era recordings and (IMHO) is better than many 2002-era recordings. The first set is very, very well-played; the "Mountains Win Again > Manhattan Bridge > 100 Years > Sweet Pain > Maybe I'm Wrong > Trust In Trust" is mind-blowing. This was BT at their finest, moving in and out of songs with ease and deconstructing their powerful jams into slow, bluesy ballads. The second set features an above-average "Weird Chick > Slow Change" and a magnificent "Lucky Lack > Sweet Talkin' Hippie", both of which feature extended jams. The "Imagine, Hook" encore is pretty terrible, but the rest of the show more than makes up for it. Highly recommended to those just discovering these godfathers of the modern jam-scene (and die-hard fans, too)! :) |
