Leighton MIND BLOWING CONCERT to say the least. I went to this gig STRAIGHT! No alcohol and/or drugs! I couldn't beleive it either. The gig was packed full of people. I chose to stand on the pitch more or less right next to where the sound engineers had their set-up. Perfect position as I both see the band and listen in a balanced position as I was almost in the centre of where all the sound was pitched to. The acoustics of Wembley Stadium are excellent as it is a natural ampitheatre i.e. oval in shape so that sound doesn't 'bounce'around all over the place. The sound 'flows'evenly creating excellent quality sound that isn't distorted. Do you the freakiest thing of this concert was the INCREDIBLE light show plus the GIGANTIC PIG and hospital bed that were on wires stretching from one end of the stadium to the other. The pig has lights in its tusks and eyes from memory. The hospital bed crashed into the stage and 'blew-up'into a ball of fire! The other ball of fire was the global form of the earth behind the band that also had fire and goodness knows what else coming out of it. My favorite song from the band was 'TIME'. When the first bass chord played for the introduction to the song the sound vibration went from my toes into my feet, legs, body torso, arms, hands and head...that was freaky! The weather was one of the best and hottest days in London for a long time. As the band came onto the stage to begin with 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' the sun was just going to dusk. I glanced up at the sky and saw this seagull flying over...so how did anyone have a comfort stop amongst everybody on the pitch? Your guess is as good as mine! David Gilmore's guitar playing that evening was unreal he was excellent! This concert was EASILY the best live gig from any band in the world I'd seen to date and even to now at the age of 43 in 2006. And I have seen some pretty big acts in my lifetime. The cliche 'You had to be there' fitted this concert like a glove. I was 24 at the time and in my prime. I still have the butt from my ticket that cost 16 pounds or about NZ$35 then. Well worth the fair price easily. I beleive PINK FLOYD is/was the greatest act/band in the world to be seen LIVE. They effectively BLEW the rest of the competition away although I have never seen the Rolling Stones live! As already stated though Pink Floyd's lighting show etc is/was UNPARALLELED and UNBEATABLE by any other high standard rock band including LED ZEPPELIN in my opinion.
