- I use Sony or Taiyo Yuden or TDK or Fuji 800MB discs.
- I burn direct from master disc images (EAC), not disc-to-disc.
- 6x is the fastest I burn CDRs.

My trading conditions:
- snail mail 1-for-1 CDR trading. Use bubble mailers!
- DAO, preferably burned from your HD. Use HQ discs like Fuji, Sony, Mitsui, Yuden or TDK. DO NOT USE Maxell, Jensen, Memorex, "store" brands (Office Max, Circuit City, etc) or generics. I have trouble extracting audio from those brands (EAC). Verbatim is OK.
- No MP3s, but SHNs and FLACs are OK.
- Please have source info (if available) and disclose any flaws.

A NOTE ABOUT MOE CONCERTS:
If the show is an ARCHIVE.ORG download and/or I state that "dead air" (audience noise when there is no music) has been removed, you can expect micro-gaps. These shows were burned on my laptop computer using iTunes, NOT my professional EAC mastering computer. PURISTS BEWARE! I WARNED YOU!

{The music sounds like a cross between Gong (Steve Hillage admits ART as an influence), Neu and Tangerine Dream. The result is a crude psychedelic headache which probably was amazing to experience on MDMA or acid in 1971, but by contemporary standards just sounds like so much amateurish avant-gardism masking drug-fueled incompetence. In context with the rest of the "Kraut-Rock" scene, it is certainly listenable and fascinating and it fits well beside Neu, early Tangerine Dream, Can, Amon Duul 2 and early Kraan. Any contemporary comparisons, however, just render the whole thing an embarassing precocious mess. Not to deter the ambitious listener, for there are strong passages of ambient and trance-like brilliance to be heard that are worth the price of admission. |

{A great sounding SBD recording. Very trance like. Damo is especially good - alternating between deep throated "Arena Rock" vocals and quiet intelligible trance-like muttering. The music is very trance-like and profound. The music is deep and reflective in odd ways, like an uncut diamond, fathomless, beautiful, strange, disquieting and rewardingly perfect. The sound reduction was done a bit unprofessionally, so there is a slight "phasing" fast slap-back to the sound but overall the music overcomes this quality. |

{A crude audience recording with various imbalances in the instrument volume levels, but a great listen for people who are fans of Zappa's large ensemble orchestrations which cross rock with fusion, big band jazz and avant-garde classicism. Interesting note: Jim Gordon plays drums. Zappa comments at one point that "this is the song that kept us out of Royal Albert Hall." before playing "Penis Dimension." That song, along with "Bwana Dik" were seized on by British authorities as scandalously offensive enough to bring about a legally doomed indecency trial. |

{Awesome! Despite the technical glitches which Zappa is very vocal about (damn generators...) there is some incredible jamming going on here. Jean Luc Ponty is smokin' smokin' smokin' and Ruth U. really nails the arrangements. The compositions are difficult and the band plays them with daring verve. And they swing it, groove it. This is the Zappa I appreciate the most - graceful and articulate compositional complexity and ensemble synergy as opposed to the potty-mouth silliness of other line-ups which I could live without. |

{A great sounding concert, some hiss but not bad. With Tubular Bells suddenly and surprisingly in the top 10 and selling hundreds of thousands of copies all over the world, Virgin asked and pleaded with Mike to put on a performance of Tubular Bells. He reluctantly agreed to after being offered a Bentley as a bribe (more details are in the History of Virgin Records book regarding this historic event - the simultaneous rise of both Mike Oldfield and Virgin Records).
1. Tubular Bells, part one [28:49] 2. Tubular Bells, part two [28:32] Lineup: Mike Oldfield (Lwry org, bs, ac gtr, el gtr, mndln, prhstrc pm), David Bedford (gnd pno, accdn, org, chr mstr, strng arr), John Greaves (Frfsa org, el pno, tn whstl), Fred Frith (el gtr, bs), Tim Hodgkinson (org, el pno, Fndr Rhds), Mick Taylor (el gtr), Steve Hillage (el gtr), John Leig (flt), Jon Field (flt) Terry Oldfield (flt) Viv Stanshall (MC), Tom Newman (nsl chrs), Sally Oldfield (grl chrs), Mundy Ellis + 10 others (grl chrs). {Some tape hiss but otherwise a great concert. This concert was organized by Virgin (David Bedford?) to showcase the 2nd Mike Oldfield album "Hergest Ridge." Mike was originally going to be performing but for some reason was unable to. Steve Hillage rehearsed quickly with the ensemble and played Mike's parts instead.
1. Hergest Ridge, part one [19:54] 2. Hergest Ridge, part two [17:10] 3. Incantations (exerpt) / Hergest Ridge (exerpt) [8:55] 4. The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner [16:39] Source and Lineup: 1,2: 12/09/74 ? Royal Albert Hall, London. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, David Bedford (cond), Steve Hillage (gtr) 3: 09/25/82 ? {A great concert in the pouring rain. A thin audience, but that was a blessing - I got to see this one from the 5th row. Phil was in fine form and the band pulled some amazing segues and improvisations. Pride of Cucamonga was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. The only downer was Warren Haynes, who should be relegated to playing slide solos only and silenced the rest of the time. And that song of his 'The Real Thing' is dumber than a box of rocks. |

{THE STORY: Sometime in the hazy spring of '91 at U of Vermont, I borrowed a bunch of 1st gen Phish AUD recordings from a friend of a friend (a taper, name unknown, no contact info) and duped them on my stereo. 10 years later, I 'rediscovered' my tapes and began an effort to find better sources on CD. No one had 9-15-90. So I transfered 9-15-90 to CD. I believe Maria and Bisq were the only two traders I supplied with copies. Then the SHN family picked it up in 2004 and the rest is history. If someone gets a soundboard or a better sounding aud of this concert, please let me know. I'd very much like to get a copy. - - - - Complete. First 2:15 of YEM (encore) cut-off, so beginning of YEM from another show (6-16-90) spliced on for the sake of continuity. NAK300s--> Sony D-10 DAT --> metal tape --> TDK hi-bias tape --> mixed on a Trident board w/EQ to a G4 Mac using Logic Audio --> splice edit beginning of YEM (first 2:16 from 6-16-90) --> tracking, stereo spread and intelligent tape hiss reduction using Waveburner Pro --> Waveburner Pro master disc image --> Master CDR |

{The Front was a great place to see Phish. Long dark clean bar, small stage a foot off the floor, space enough for maybe 100 to 150 people. This was the 2nd time I saw Phish at the Front. I got my favorite spot - in front of Trey (so I could watch his technique). Awesome show. Bouncin' and singin' and twistin' and grinnin' and all that fun stuff. Seemed to last forever. Then the encore, then the 6-block walk home in 10 degree fridgid 2 AM weather. Ah, those were the days!

{Includes soundcheck. Crisp clear sound (soundcheck spotty). End of Fluffhead cut-off. NOTE - on some versions of this show there is a disc-filler guitar workshop by Trey (which is more a free-thought music lecture) on disc 3. By editing out the extraneous incomplete YEM (keeping the full one, of course) and many seconds of "dead" air (audience noise in long gaps between songs and long gaps between soundcheck songs), this show fits on TWO discs, complete without any music missing (except the inevitable Fluffhead fade). I have BOTH versions, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the two disc version (less "dead air") |

{This gig happened about 3 blocks from where I was living at the time (above Stanard's Market on N. Champlain St., if you must know) in the summer of '91. A friend of mine and I walked over (with a bottle of cheap wine and a joint) and sat on the grass and watched Phish play. It was great - there were maybe 200 to 300 people there. A mini-outdoor festival. Fishman doing the Doors cover was awesome - really funny but well played. The horn section added a whole new dimension to the band (Suzy, Mike's kicked ass). I got up and slam-danced in front of the stage during BBFCFM. Listening back fifteen years later, it doesn't sound so good, so I don't know if it was just an OK show or if my memories are waxing nostalgic. Either that or it was the wine (and the joint) having a better time of things.
Memorable quote from when Fishman, dressed in that bizarre doughnut frock, gets ready to sing the Doors tune: "Is it man or is it fish?" |

{I was hanging out at L&L at UVM when Daryll said "you know Phish is playing in Barre tonight? Want to go?" "Yeah!" I said. So we drove down. Small brick public auditorium that could hold maybe 500 people or so. Got up near the front. Awesome first set. Went next door to the ice skating rink for a breather before returning for set 2. Killer second set. Everyone was smilin' and noddin' and the smell of ganga was subtle but unmistakably everywhere. Grippo got up and started honking along with the band (looked kinda lost during BBFCFM). Awesome show. Daryll wasn't heading back to Burlington, so I hitched a ride with another friend I spotted as we were shuffling out the front door. Cold night. Lots of stars. Another show, another memory. Life is too good!

{My first New Year's Eve Phish concert! Caleb and I drove down from Burlington. Quiet and cold night. Scored a bowl of soup at a church supper next door to the hall. When we went in and saw so many people (about 1,000 I think) I came to the realization that they were going to be BIG. A lot bigger than just a regional New England success. We had a great time and there were a bunch of tunes that I'd never heard before (Guelah Papyrus was one). Caleb and I scored coffee and tried to keep each other awake on the drive back to Vermont. We ended up crashing at my parent's farm near Mt. Ascutney and got back to Burlington on the 1st.
I remember the show being awesome (or was that the herb talking?) but the show doesn't hold up so well listening to it years later and compared with other shows from the same period. Some of the playing lacks that extra 'sparkle' and someone forgot to tune the piano, which is irritating to listen to whenever Page is playing it.

He told me the band was going to be going on tour with Santana. Wow! And so it did come to pass... 7-25-92: A perfect Vermont summer day. Caleb and I hiked up Mt. Mansfield before the concert. The excitement was unreal. Phish playing with Santana! Phish played a great (but short) set and Santana joined the band at the end. All four members of Phish came out on stage to jam with the Santana band late in Santana's set (Fishman still in that absurd doughnut dress, playing a talking drum). All in all a great concert. {Crystal clear DSoundboard. Before hand, I had my doubts about whether it would be a good concert or not. "Hoist" had just been released. I bought it immediately, listened to it a few times with growing horror and threw the fucking thing in the trash. How could Phish dare release such a pile of shit? So, yes, I had doubts about this concert. But my fears were unfounded. My girlfriend and I went to this one. It was sort of nostalgic, hoping to hear all those songs I was so intensely passionate about a couple of years prior. It was a good concert, but we had to leave early in the 2nd set to keep an appointment. Good concert. Did I mention it was a good concert? And still sounds good a decade later. {Uri and I and Shimon drove to Lake Placid for this concert. It was the first time I had seen Phish in two years and I was not impressed. Shimon actually fell asleep during the concert, snoring sprawled on the seat! I stood there, trying to work up the kind of enthusiasm I used to have for Phish. But as one unexciting song followed another without any build-up in intensity (Down With Disease is the one exception), I kept wishing for the "old" Phish of 1990-1992. This would be the last time I saw Phish until Big Cypress NYE 1999. At the time, I just couldn't be bothered with them anymore. Listening back now 10 years later, it's a good listenable concert worth having, but it lacks the intensity of a really good synergistic show. {My first Phish concert in 3 years. I had high expectations and was let down. I kept waiting for the magic to happen (it happened the next night) and it never did. Sort of like a plane taxiing down a runway but never taking off. The majority of the show is a big pile of stinking aimless noodling which never developed further or gained in intensity. And the vocals are off-key and juvenile-sounding. I highly recommend 7-31-03 the next night which blows 7-30-03 away. |

{One of the best shows of the summer 2003 tour. Piper and Harry Hood both spiral on, trance-like for 20+ minutes each! I was staying at my friend's place on this stop-over to see Phish before heading to Maine. This concert was AWESOME and totally made up for the previous night. This is the concert which fully restored my love for Phish as a live touring band. Honestly, the last Phish concerts I felt this good about attending were the two spring Flynn shows of 1992! Eleven years prior! Everything about this concert was on fire. And I could tell from the head nodding and inspirational playing on stage that the band was totally on fire, feeding off the frenzy of the audience. I was doing the hippie noodle-dance along with everyone else and loving every minute of it. TICKET IMAGE AVAILABLE. |

{I attended all four nights of the Miami run. This was the best night by far, the playing was superior. Also, fortuitously, it was the one night when I had a seat that actually faced the stage. The Miami arena is a shitty cement bunker with terrible acoustics, and unless you can get a seat facing the stage, it's all slapback, phasing and muddy low clarity. 3 of the 4 nights, I had side seats which got a muddy wash of indecipherable sound. But this night was an inspiring night. Good intense jams, great musical interplay. TICKET IMAGES AVAILABLE FOR ALL FOUR MIAMI SHOWS. |

Comment From the seeder:
The Roxy was a hostile environment for stealth recording. The sound is slightly inconsistent at the beginning, a bit loud, but soon settles in and sounds really neat. There are various microphone
adjusting noises, clinking glasses and the like. In technical terms,
there are a few flaws: some very brief buzz in left channel @ about 4:15 of
track 1 (and at some point briefly later in the show);there's an abrupt cutbetween Storia In LA and Peninsula -- there may be something missing. Aside from that, there is such superb musicianship in this band, and the tunes possess such melodic beauty. And to top it all off, a wildly appreciative audience! What more could a PFM fan ask? |

{The band does a sort of 'round robin' set list where they rotate to highlight each member with the big hits they're most known for. "American Woman" for B. Cummings, "I Can't Tell You Why" for T. Schmidt, "Bang on the Drum" for Rundgren, etc. etc. Each member gets 2 or 3 songs. Anyone expecting a ton of Beatles material would be disappointed because Starr does his fair share with the others - just a few songs only, including "Yellow Submarine" and "A Little Help From My Friends" |

Also, it's very rewarding to hear Capaldi playing REAL DRUMS (instead of bopping around aimlessly with a tambourine while some Muscle Shoals studio hack churns out boring drum parts, like the '73 tour). |

JOV cuts off after 1st minute, so for the sake of continuity, I spliced in the last 3 minutes from a different concert from the same era. |
