"This one was really rare a couple of years back as only a few traders had it and the ones who did, didn't trade it around. This is a very early recording with Mantas (pre - Death) from early 1984. Some sources claim it's from February, but that has never been confirmed. Two tracks from this recording (Rise Of Satan and Mantas) was released on the Metal Before Death bootleg 7" a year or two ago - but this is the complete recording! Mantas - Death By Metal demo (ORIGINAL) - 1984 Tracklist: -- Legion Of Doom Evil Dead Mantas Death By Metal Power Of Darkness -- 16:06 From the collection of Matt S. This demo was bought from the band back in 1984 from an advert in an old Guillotine Magazine. It arrived on a MAXELL LN 46 TYPE I cassette and included a photo copied J-Card. All 5 songs were recorded on Side A. Nothing was done to enhance the sound quality of this recording and it is presented here exactly as it rolled off the tape. This is a completely raw transfer. This version of the "Death By Metal" demo is rumored to have been lost and re-recorded and released under the name DEATH. This version is different from the DEATH version and most certainly should be considered as the original release.
