Sleep Deprivation Tank is a churn of musicians that occurs in the campground at High Sierra Music Festival. In 2008 the Sleep Deprivation Tank was located near the big tent in the Big Meadow Field, next to the RVs. These recordings comprise most of the music performed in the camp 9pm Thursday through 5am Friday morning. The camp was hosted this year by the members of Seconds on End and Mike Toth of Tribolectric. Some of its a bit rough, but there's a lot of good stuff in there. Many of the named tracks are Seconds on End tunes with guests sitting in. Other improvisational tracks are marked "Sleep Deprivation Tank" jams. The Sleep Deprivation Tank performed during set breaks of the nearby Big Meadow Stage and Vaudeville Stage. After the Vaudeville Stage shut down Sleep Deprivation Tank performed until first light. All of these musicians participated at one time or another in the 2008 SDT. Most of the material recorded this night was Seconds on End tunes, but the format was Sleep Deprivation Tank. Sleep Deprivation Tank was in full effect until 5am Sunday, but the final recording was lost. Microphones were placed 180 degrees apart in the center of the camp. Mixes are unbalanced at times: kick, bass or other instruments in the PA are heavy at times due to close placement to the monitors and the tight environment.
