The Kids Are Alright You Really Got Me No Jestering Parachute Woman W/ Jojo On Harp Pills W/ Jojo Some Kinda Wonderful W/ Eliott Randall Route 66 W/ Eliott Randall The Worst That Could Happen Ain't It Strange (toasting Version) W/ Tapper Zukie ?(tease) W/ Linval Thompson ? W/ Linval Thompson Gimme Some Lovin' 96 Tears/scene Of The Crime W/ Iggy Pop --get Well Patti-- --banter-- It's All Over Now W/ Leigh Foxx I Can't Explain (Jay Dee Lead Vox & Guitar) A Certain Girl W/ Jonathan Paley Goin' Down W/ Leigh Foxx
SKOTF 122 Lenny Kaye - vocals, guitar Ivan Kral - vocals, guitar Jay Dee Daugherty - drums Andy Paley (definitely yes, but on how much I am not sure) With Guests: David Johansen, Tapper Zukie, Linval Thompson, Leigh Foxx, Jonathan Paley and....IGGY POP Notes from Realomind. It's hard to know where to start with this one. It's the Patti Smith Group sans Patti who was out of commission with an injury. The special guests and setlist are mindblowing, unprecedented even. I mean, hi, for starters Iggy and David Jo performing in the same set. Just let that sink in for a moment. Then consider Elliot Randall, who played the guitar solo in Reelin' In The Years - a Steely Dan factor? Yes. Couldn't do the show without a couple of super-obscure reggae guest shots. Linval Thompson is a deep dub producer that I have been aware of if not entirely familiar with over the years. On the other hand, Tapper Zukie was a new one on me, and the fact that Lenny introduces him as having released "the greatest reggae album of all time" certainly got my attention. Fucking LENNY said it! Also, Leigh Foxx goes hogg wilde and the version of Goin' Down steers towards The Red & The Black. Before Iggy's bit Lenny introduces him as "needing no introduction." I thought they were playing I'm Waiting For The Man and figured John Cale must have just joined them. Boy was I surprised when IGGY started singing 96 Tears - and then adding in lines from Scene of The Crime! It's awesome. I could go on. The core guys Lenny, Ivan, Jay Dee I am sure about. Whether Andy Paley is on the whole show I am not sure. Allen Lanier and Bruce Brody are both good candidates also, but I am not sure about whether they are on this or not. This is as good as it looks on paper and that my friends, is pretty fucking awesome
