09/14/12 Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival Blues Tent FLAC 1 A igh energy set by the Avett Brothers. Unusual kind of act for Harvest Jazz and Blues, but it brought in a young and energentic crowd which was great. The crowd was enthusiastic and the band seemed to feed off the energy, playing a fun, entertaining show. A little chatter and audience noise during the quieter song, but very listenable.

04/09/16 Capitol Theatre FLAC 1 A NOTES FROM THE TAPER: This was my first Avett Brothers show. Loved it! I'll definitely be seeing them again. Amazing energy on stage and pretty cool bunch of fans. Their new album "True Sadness" will be released in June and they're playing a few of the songs from it during this current tour. Regarding this recording, there are no technical problems to report, but during the quiet songs, there is a lot of background white noise chatter. I had to change locations twice (but that's the beauty of GA; you're never stuck next to a problematic neighbor). Right at the beginning of track 02, a man started singing along in a ridiculously loud voice. Adios amigo. My next position lasted until track 09, when a woman came dancing into my area with a little tambourine. You can hear her delightful beats starting at around 3:32. Really? I'm off to location 3 which was fine for the rest of the night. I got some pretty good video, about half the show:

09/10/70 Cook County Jail Digital/320Vo 1 A B.B. King has cut a lot of albums since the success of Live at the Regal. And, like the live shows they document, none of them are any less than solid and professional, hallmarks of King's work aesthetic. But every so often B.B. truly catches fire; his playing and singing comes up an extra notch or two, and the result is a live album with some real sparks to it. Live in Cook County Jail is one of those great concerts that the record company was smart enough to be there to capture, documenting B.B. firing on all cylinders in front of an audience that's just damn happy for him to be there. Possibly the best live version of "The Thrill Is Gone" of all its many incarnations, and rock solid renditions of classics like "Everyday I Have the Blues," "How Blue Can You Get?," "Sweet Sixteen" and a great medley of "3 O'Clock Blues" and "Darlin' You Know I Love You." Live at the Regal is still the champ of King's live output, but many say this runs a close second, and they just may be right.

10/26/69 Academy Of Music FLAC 1 B This one is absolutely essential for any Band fans - recorded a month after the release of the second album, the band is in fine form. The recording itself is remarkable for a mono audience tape from the late sixties. All the instruments are well balanced and clear, and the audience is present but never overpowers the music. Spectral analysis shows that it is lossless and as far as I know it's never been shared in any form before. I got the show in a private trade over a decade ago - apparently, my source got it from the original taper who was concerned about possible bootlegging and requested that the recording keep a low profile. I've abided by that request for years, but this show is too great to keep it hidden for any longer.

07/02/62 Finjan Club CDR 0 A The incredible Finjan tape belongs in every collection. Period. This particular CD release is the one to own. Few if any other releases of Finjan can compare to this gem. Some of the other releases have edited out the in between song talking, mistakes, and false starts (which sometimes seem as long as the songs themselves). Nothing is edited here. The CD captures the moment the recorder was turned on and left to run. This has always been a nice quality soundboard recording, but Yellow Dog has brought it to pure perfection. The audience is pin drop quiet. So much so that this could be a studio recording. The tape is so clean that several times you can hear the guitar case snaps etc. when the stage hand opens it to retrieve harmonicas and a capo. Turn up the stereo, and suddenly Dylan is in the room with you. © 2001 Craig Pinkerton Bobsboots.com
04/12/63 Town Hall Digital 1 A Staggering! There are simply no superlatives that could do this release justice. Sony brought the master tape of this show to light for consideration of the bootleg series. Why it was abandoned is anyone's guess. We have long petitioned them to create or work with an independent manufacturer that could afford to produce small quantity releases that might not have the appeal to the masses that Sony or Legacy would require to view it as a profitable venture. In this day and age of the Goliath Labels being wounded by greed and conquered by technology, one would think that an idea such as this would make Label executives giddy at the prospects, yet they continue to turn a deaf ear. To fulfill the demand, boot labels do their best to get the material to the public. Some are only looking for the quick bottom line, but there are a few who are truly interested in producing labor of love packages. Rattlesnake has long been at the forefront of those beautiful looking and sounding packages. A similar package was released six months earlier by Hollow Horn. Whether this recording is taken from that one or the same master is uncertain, but it is not a direct copy to copy. This release has been mastered independently, although the quality is nearly identical. Along with the brilliant package, this one also has a 16 page booklet! The title is not quite so imaginative, but who needs fantasy with a reality like this beauty. The package is full of photos and images, track information and concert reviews. With all the hoopla of the splendid visuals of this release laid aside, the sound recording is worthy of even more praise! There are a couple of minor technicalities that Legacy would have corrected were they to have issued the concert, but they would be hard pressed to be able to clean up the recording any more. It is simply perfection as it is. Dylan fans can finally rejoice at the release of this incredible masterpiece that has been locked away for nearly half a century! The Town Hall concert is steeped in the rich tradition of Dylan folklore. It was, for all practical purposes, Dylan's first USA concert of any merit. There were about 600 people in the audience, far more than the young singer had ever faced before, and there are a few nervous moments evident in the show. But, what an incredible and historic show it is! The tape is turned on about a minute before the show, and the listener is transported into the middle of the audience as they anticipate Bob's arrival on the stage. About five seconds worth of hand clapping introduces the harmonica intro of the first song. There is no other introduction. Oh, to travel back to that first major performance and to be able to give this young man an introduction with the foreknowledge of what would come! The introduction would be as long as the concert! This ranks high as one of the most important boot releases of all time, and on top of that, it's simply a thrill and a joy to just sit back and listen to. If you're only planning on getting one bootleg this decade, choose either this one or the Hollow Horn release. Either choice is a winner. The main difference is the package. Both are beautiful beyond description. Hollow Horn is a folding cardboard digi-pack, while this release comes in a plastic jewel case. © 2008 CD Pinkerton - bobsboots.com Notes by bobsboots.com

06/01/65 BBC Studios FLAC 1 A taped with a Mic in front of the TV set onto a Grundig TK20 at three and three-quarters (half track). Programme Two is at a slightly lower audio level than Programme One, but the tape has not been processed in any way by the cool edit that digitised the recording. I did copy the tape on to an Mini-Disc at one point, but I am fairly sure that the files I am passing to you today were made direct from the spool. I've always found the sound of this tape more suited to my ear than any of the other recordings I've heard, but maybe that's because I've played the tape a million times. Now the bad news: Back in the late sixties I never thought of history, posterity or that radio and tv was anything but ephemeral. There is no splicing tape on the tape I have kept over the years and I suspect this is evidence of the crime having been compounded. Maybe the splices kept breaking so perhaps the tape was copied at three and three quarters on to a new tape. I have no idea what happened to the original; but if you see a five inch reel in a blue philips box .... Do with these files as you will. If you do decide to pass it on, then do by all by all means call me the uneducated fool with no appreciation of history, but if you could give some anonimity, that would be nice. hollis brown mr tambourine man if you gotta go love minus zero one too mornings

05/01/70 Columbia Studios B FLAC 1 A Bob Dylan George Harrison & Guests Yesterday '69-'70 Studio outtakes CBS Studio, Nashville, TN Feb. 1969 Except: CBS Studio B, New York, NY May 1, 1970 Review: This WW release came in a gatefold cardboard sleeve with great looking aesthetics and sepia toned CBS archive photos from the studio session. As it looks like a mini-LP, WW carried it one step further by silk screening the CD so that it appears to be an album. While not a new concept, it has been used so infrequently as to still have appeal. And, this is perhaps the most realistic LP looking disc to date. The sound quality is very good. The 1969 aterial includes Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Billy Wotten (guitars), Marshall Grant (bass), and W.S. Holland (drums). Produced by Bob Johnson, this session was three days after the 'Nashville Skyline' LP was recorded in the same studio, with different musicians. The 1970 material is available through the CBS Studios Reference Recording archives. It was produced by Bob Johnson as well. This session also produced the "If Not For You" version that was released on the official CBS LP 'The Bootleg Series 1-3" The musicians include George Harrison (guitar), Charlie Daniels (bass & backing vocals), Billy Mundi (drums), & *Bob Johnson (piano) http://www.bobsboots.com/CDs/cd-y01.html You can use the above link to get artwork

02/14/74 The Forum - Afternoon CDR 2 A eview: A little extra magic was woven into the three Inglewood shows. The music was a little tighter, the vocal performances soar, and the soundboard mix was meticulous. The reasons being: 1) after 37 performances, the art of the show had been honed to perfection. 2) Even though it was only mid February, this was the final three concerts of the tour (and of the year) 3) Probably the biggest reason that all were in top form was that the final three shows were being recorded for a possible live LP release. This package contains a nearly complete performance, missing only the opening 'Most Likely You Go Your Way' and The Band's 'The Shape I'm In'. No loss for the latter, as it appears on the official release 'Before The Flood'. However, this show's version of 'Most Likely You Go Your Way' is not the official release version. It's unknown as to why it would be left out of this 2 CD set. A good choice for the evening show filler material is The Band's only performance of 'Endless Highway' and one of only four tour performances of 'Maggie's Farm'. However, the boat was missed on releasing the most commonly performed 'Like A Rolling Stone' and leaving off the only tour performance of an electric 'Mr Tambourine Man'. This fantastic set becomes slightly redundant for the casual collector, as it is close to the official release. 08/04/17 Red Rocks Amphitheatre FLAC 1 A ed Rocks in Morrison, Colorado played host to a special concert honoring the 75th birthday of late Grateful Dead frontman Jerry Garcia on Friday night. The evening featured sets from a pair of all-star bands put together expressly for the occasion as well as set from Bob Weir & the Campfire Band. John Mayer made a surprise appearance as did a collection of Jerry Garcia’s guitars including Wolf, Tiger, Rosebud and two Travis Bean axes. The Jerry Garcia 75th Birthday Acoustic Band featuring Kenny Kosek, Sandy Rothman, Travis Book, Anders Osborne and Chris Pandolfi kicked off the action. Kosek and Rothman were members of the short-lived Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band in the late ’80s, while Book and Pandolfi are members of The Infamous Stringdusters. After opening with “Deep Elem Blues” (missing here) the ensemble performed a mix of songs from Garcia’s various unplugged projects as well as an acoustic “Black Muddy River” and the first of two versions of “Friend Of The Devil” to be played on Friday. Up next was a set from an impressive group of musicians dubbed the Jerry Garcia 75th Birthday Band. Original Jerry Garcia Band members Melvin Seals, Jaclyn LaBranch and Gloria Jones were joined by Oteil Burbridge, Kamasi Washington, Tom Hamilton and Duane Trucks. The band focused on material from the Jerry Garcia Band repertoire including “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You),” “The Harder They Come,” “Cats Down Under The Stars,” “Ruben & Cherise” and “Dear Prudence.” Weir made an appearance on guitar and vocals for a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Señor (Tales Of Yankee Power).” Mayer, the evening’s unannounced surprise guest, showed off fretboard fireworks on the set-closing “Deal.” Bobby and the Campfire Band closed out the evening. Weir opened the headlining set with a handful of solo acoustic performances including “Only A River” off 2016’s Blue Mountain. Then, not only did the Campfire Band file on stage, but John Mayer came out as well. Mayer led “Althea” as part of a performance that included one Grateful Dead classic after another along with two GD repertoire staples (“Morning Dew”/”I Know You Rider”). An impressive segment came in the form a “Bird Song” > “Dark Star” > “Bird Song.” Weir, Mayer and the Campfire Band brought out Burbridge to add to “Eyes Of The World” towards the end of the set. The evening came to a close with a “Friend Of The Devil”/ ”Brokedown Palace” encore, which like most of Weir’s set featured John Mayer.

12/12/12 Madison Square Garden FLAC 10 A First and foremost this recording was made at a benefit fundraiser to support the Robin Hood Relief Fund providing relief to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. As a former New Yorker, I know many of the areas affected and have many friends and family who felt the impact of the storm. As the taper of this concert I have a simple request to make. I ask those who download this concert make a nominal donation to the Robin Hood Relief Fund. Here is the link to their website http://www.121212concert.org/. My goal is to have at least an equal amount donated to the hurrican relief than I spent of tickets. The ticket I purchased cost $2,500 and I spent an additional $350 upgrading seats to get the best possible location for this incredible performance. Donations, the purchase of Merchandise or time helping others in need are all things one can do. Surprises included Eddie Vedder joining Roger Waters for the Pink Floyd classic ‘Comfortably Numb’, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi doing ‘Born To Run’ and Michael Stipe joining Chris Martin but the big surprise was Paul McCartney joining the surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.

02/09/00 Arco Arena Digital/320 Vo 1 A Some things do get better with age, and the 2000 "CSNY2K" tour was a personal favorite. This, to me, is the cream of the crop, and one of my personal all-time favorite "Desert Island" discs. The 2000 tour featured new takes on old classics, and somehow bridged the ages, bringing old and new into a harmonious, rocking whole. The first years of the 21st Century were also a "golden age" of ALD recordings, before their alternate uses became more widely known and many venues shut the technology down. There are quite a number of ALDs from the CSNY2K tour - some of which, sadly, are still in the clutches of hoarders. This one, luckily, saw the light of day. ALD recordings of course have their technical limitations, including reduced dynamic range, lack of bass, and attenuated high end. Luckily the Professor at 3BR was able to work his sonic magic on this recording, and really bring it to life. If you're into vocal harmonies, loud crunchy guitar, and close-miked soundboards - this is sonic heaven. Beyond recommended ... ESSENTIAL!

I like the sound of Dan's recording as do some 1500+ of you. I have not edited these tracks, nor played with their sound in any way. I did this so you will notice the difference when the recording switches at the start of track 5 from Dan's core sound mic's to my Schoeps. You will note some noise within the first ten seconds of Track 5 ... that is me setting up my mic's as I arrived at my seat ... you are going to have to remember this was a "stealth" recording, but you will not hear much hiss or crowd noise on my recording. My second special thank you to my friend (who will remain nameless here, but he knows who he is) who set me up with excellent seats 9 rows in front of the soundboard, directly on the center line. You will definitely hear the stereo separation of channels on my recording. Moreover, the crowd was extremely mature and cooperative where I was sitting, thus there are very few unruly disturbances in this recording.

In October 2009 during Voodoo Fest Jojo produced the first Down on the Bayou at Howlin' Wolf as a "companion" concert to the benefit Dr. John produced for the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic. The proceeds from Down on the Bayou II will help sustain the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic (NOMC), a program of the New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation, (NOMAF) and their commitment to providing affordable, comprehensive health care to New Orleans’ most precious resource: our musicians musicians. NOMC on NBC national news http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619#32602236 The musicians clinic (est. in 1998) is the brainchild by Dr. Jack McConnell ( father of Phish keyboardist Page McConnell). The NOMC became the first healthcare initiative of its kind in the United States, addressing the unmet medical needs of local musicians, artists and their families. The NOMC strives to institute an agenda of wellness into the New Orleans’ musician patient population, which in turn helps to keep the music and traditional artistry of the city alive.

11/25/83 Cleveland Music Hall Digital 1 A Since Charlie Miller recently seeded a very nice 1st or 2nd row FOB AUD, with plenty of Garcia's guitar in the mix, I decided to couple it with the well circulated SBD since that source was woefully lacking in the guitar in the mix factor, due to the fact that Garcia's stage volume was plenty loud and little reinforcement was needed from the SBD, especially in the first few tunes of the first set. The mix of the SBD improves by Knockin', but Jerry stays relatively low in the mix for the rest of the show; thus, having plenty of him in the AUD, allow the two sources to work well together. The fact that Cleveland Music Hall is a nice sounding room also helps. This is a great show with a very tasty setlist. The whole band is on, and Jerry never lets up, all the way from Melody through Tangled. Thanks to everyone involved. For the FOB AUD, thanks to the person who recorded it, to Dave Lisuch for the 2nd gen cassettes which Charlie Miller transfered, edited and coverted to FLAC; for the SBD, thanks to whoever recorded it, to Mike Lai for the original seed which jakemerc edited and converted to SHN.

Dan had this to say about recording this show "Garcia and Kahn, The Ritz 1/27-28/86, An old buddy of mine from college was living in New York City and was employed as the light man at the Palladium. He knew the soundman at the Ritz and had my tape deck hooked into the soundboard before I could even score a ticket. They also had a killer video feed going on, but they wouldn't allow me to patch in with the portable VCR I had brought with me."
10/25/87 Lunt-Fontanne Theatre Digital 1 A Outstanding sound quality for the acoustic set - no hiss sbd. Electric band audience recording is also an easy listen. Jerry dedicates the performance of "Oh Babe, It Ain't No Lie" to the memory of Elizabeth Cotton. Tape runs out during "Harder They Come". * with Bob Weir (guitar, vocals) . Bob sings lead on "Masterpiece" and "Watchtower". This is the one and only time the JGB publically played "All Along The Watchtower". 11/27/84 Rochester Auditorium Theater CDR 2 A- omments: Final of only four non-GD Garcia performances of "Peggy-O". Very good audience recording with minor level fluctuations largely related to the taper turning down the gain because of audience noise - most notable at the beginning of sets and at the first notes of Ripple. There were some pauses between tracks with a couple instances of the clipping of the first note. Silent gaps between pauses were removed and the overall level of the recording was increased by 1.5 dB using SF6.
10/16/85 Catalyst Club FLAC 1 A This tape came in as part of a liquidation. The sources is written on the J-Card, but no taper is identified.
01/31/86 The Capitol Theater CDR & FLAC 2 A- Notes/Flaws/Comments: - This was originally laid out for two discs. I did nothing more than rename the files for one-disc layout. The md5s remain otherwise unchanged. - Extreme mix & level fluctuations @ start, obviously from the PA given the crowd's response as things improve. This then becomes quite a nice recording!

Our benefactor is not in favour of audience patches so the patient is missing some vital parts as there are no suitable donors. - "Sugaree" is provided by shnid 14035 - Some sections have been made mono as the damage in one channel was too severe to be repaired. - The mix gets a little different in places. e.g. 'Me and My Uncle' has Weir's guitar up much higher than anything else for a lot of the track. - All files are tagged.

10/10/80 Warfield Theater FLAC 1 A General Notes: Given the multiple sources available on the Llama, I put the effort into editing a matrix of this often overlooked gem of the Warfield run from the Dead Set and Dead Reckoning live session recordings in the fall of '80. There may be better overall played shows from other nights at the Warfield and also their Radio City counterparts (don't forget the Saenger in NOLA), but my motivation here was the best versions of Althea and Jack Straw that I have heard, not to mention an excellent Scarlet>Fire. The Jack-a-roe is the version on Dead Reckoning (aka For The Faithful), and the quality of the acoustic set SBD is very crisp, probably close to the multi-tracks. The electric SBD is not as nice, but when coupled with the AUD, the show really comes to life. The electric SBD is also plagued by many holes, the worst being that there is no SBD for most of Truckin' and then through the rest of the show. All things equal, Althea, Jack Straw, Scarlet > Fire are completely sick, and worth the matrixed effort, not to mention it was fun doing an acoustic set too - the audience element is cool; and even though it's a balcony recording, the Warfield is small enough that the intimacy is still present and desirable. Timeline/Tracking Notes: Not much music is missing from the AUD, but the SBD lacks good coverage, except for the upgraded acoustic set which has more in between song tuning. The transition between all three discs can be put together seemlessly. The show tracks well for 3 discs (2 of them 80 min. discs), and even though it's a 3 set show, I felt it important to keep it to 3 discs. This way the end of the second set and the beginning of the third set are on disc 2, and that's where the nuggets are anyway. Editing Notes: - Pitch Both sources were pitched differently, the SBD being the sharpest, and the AUD being the flatest. I used the SBD as my master timeline and pitch referenced the AUD to it. The AUD on average had to be pitched up about .28 (28 cents) to achieve pitch correction - 1.00 being 100 cents which is a semitone. However, this pitch differential did fluctuate throughout the show, and was especially tough in Row Jimmy as the reels on the SBD were running out. Big RXR Blues is funky too. I did not reference A=440 as I did not desire to pitch adjust the SBD. It is very close though to A=440, albeit a little sharp. - Synch Because of the speed fluctuation within a given source, multiple edits were performed to keep the sources synched. Because the SBD was my master pitch and time ref, the AUD was synched to the SBD (too many edits to list). - Sonic Quality/Matrix ratio I did choose to employ a slight amount of limiting to the SBD (Waves L2) to give it a slight amount of punch and presence. For the electric SBD source I had to employ some noise reduction as the hiss is a little much and takes away from the matrix sonically. Waves X-Noise was used to accomplish this task, in which I used the "learn" function which isolated the hiss through frequency spectrum analysis and drew an appropriate graph for EQ. I was then able to solo just the noise being "reduced" and found that almost no music was being lost, thus an optimum result. Conceptually, all I was trying to do here is to add some dimension to the SBD, which is pretty dry but very crisp, by using the ambience of the AUD. The result is a lively but clear recording, hopefully close to how it sounded at the show. If I had to guess the SBD/AUD ratio would be somewhere between 3:1 and 4:1, leaning more towards the 4:1 end of things. - Edits The following are places where the SBD and AUD had holes or incomplete coverage in reference to the final matrix timeline. I also edited out reel pauses from the SBD where appropriate (like places where the AUD is the only source because the SBD has been paused) to provide an enjoyable listening experience. I left them in where the SBD was the only source (like the beginning of Estimated).

04/20/17 Track 29 FLAC 1 A Jason Isbell. ON 4/20! FIRST show of the tour. SEVERAL new songs. NO other tapers seen. TIGHT-AS-FUCK band. FIRST show of 22 shows in 23 days. Not all notes will be like this, but if you're not sold by now, there's no helping you. OK, the jam at the end of "Never Gonna Change" is face-melting. It seems Kevn Kinney introduced Sadler Vaden (the 'new guy' onstage, the 400 Unit is now a 5 piece, they were a 4 piece when I saw them 3 times in 2012) either at that Sun Tangled Angel Revival show in '13 or at a DNC show last year. The kid has chops. I'd also like to commend the (almost all of 'em) respectful Chattahoochie (sic) crowd. It was posted "no videos or picture taking" at the door, and it's the first show I've attended in a LONG time that only 2-3 cell phones were visible at any given time. Y'all should thank Dennis. As without him, you'd not get a chance to hear this stuff when you hear it. I just push the shiny red button and observe shit. The vault is closed for a bit. Too much new currency hitting the till the next 3 weeks...pretty sure I'm taping "something for everyone" this trip, as 70% of these artists I've never seen before. Southern Culture On The Skids tonight, and again tomorrow with Drivin N Cryin (at the time these notes were written, the torrent may hit the innerwebs (sic) later than today.).

01/27/06 Alabama Theatre FLAC 1 A To avoid having thunderous digital clips on the recording, I used a slightly steep compressor to level off the crowd cheers between songs. This brought the applause from a clipping level to about -10db or so. I also used a click remover plugin to take out some harsh claps happening inches from the microphones. Even still, the music is significantly quieter than the audience cheers. I wanted to do as little dynamic editing possible; the room sounded great, and I don't want to take all the dynamics from the recording in exchange for a more "loud" final mix. Jeff performed the final 2 songs unplugged on stage lip. Even though we were fairly close, I boosted levels about +10db to compensate for the low signals. Audience patch from 0:00 - 0:32 of d1t01. 08/04/17 Red Rocks Amphitheatre FLAC 1 A ed Rocks in Morrison, Colorado played host to a special concert honoring the 75th birthday of late Grateful Dead frontman Jerry Garcia on Friday night.

09/20/73 Prather Coliseum NW St. Univ Digital 1 B- Here is a real treat for all you Jim Croce fans... This is the last show Jim performed before his untimely death in 1973. This is an audience recording, very good for its time. I obtained this recording many years ago thru the art of snail mail, back in the days before torrents were born. I believe this is 2nd generation from the master cassette tape. The story goes thusly: This CD contains the final moments of the legendary Jim Croce and his lead guitarist, Maury Muehleisen. Jim and Maury had just given a great show on the campus of Northwestern State Unversity in Natchitoches, Louisiana. They had been well-received by almost 2000 fans. Only fifteen minutes after this concert ended, they were both killed when their chartered plane crashed during takeoff from the Natchitoches, LA airport. Four others aboard the aircraft were also killed. This show was taped on a hand held cassette recorder by 2 young women in the 3rd row. You will find that the sound is pretty amazing for an audience recording from back in the day. Please enjoy a look back at the final performance of an American legend: Jim Croce.

03/10/96 The Catalyst FLAC 1 A This was my first John Prine recording. I got a ride to the show with my friends Dave and Brian, and for some reason (probably because of Dave) we got there late and the show had already started. Santa Cruz is about two and a half hours north of San Luis Obispo County, so we had a bit of a drive. I made my way onto the floor as best as I could but Prine had already played ‘Spanish Pipedream’ and was part of the way into ‘Six O:Clock News’ before I was able to start recording. There is some crowd noise on this recording but overall it’s not too bad. I just wish I would have been able to get the complete show recorded. I had never seen John Prine before and loved his music. He is such a gifted storyteller. I still remember thinking it was funny during ‘The Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness’ when John sang, ‘You come home late and you come home curly..’, the guy near me exclaimed ‘Curly!’. It’s on the tape. Too funny. I recorded John’s show about six months later at Cuesta College and got a little better recording. The Catalyst was a fun venue. It’s an old bowling alley that was converted to a club and the stage is very high. There is a balcony on each side which is where I would have rather been, but they fill up fast.

02/20/79 Earth Tavern FLAC 1 A Recorded live with Tom Robinson at the soundboard, mixing and recording. The left channel appears to hold the vocals and guitar, while the right channel has the piano, bass and drums, not uncommon from a Robinson recording of this era. Tom gave the master recording of this show to Pat Lee in celebration of his son Cody's birth on that day. Pat was kind enough to lend me the master tape in March 2010 and I transferred it to 24 bit/48000 hz PCM. I then mastering the recording to cleanup tape noise and general clicks, and to remix the channels to something somewhat more listenable. I hope Tom, Pat, Cody, and all y'all enjoy it. PLEASE, distribute only in wave, flac, or shn files, and only as is. What you do to the files for your own listening pleasure is your business. Thanks.

This edition Features the Quintet's complete April 8 1960 performance at Kongresshaus in Zurich Switzerland. Miles And Trane really stretched out on these tunes averaging about 14 minutes per song - superbly backed by Wynton Kelly - Paul Chambers & Jimmy Cobb. This release also contains 4 bonus tracks of Davis And Coltrane accompanied by another star trio Bill Evans Paul Chambers And Philly Joe Jones - at New York's Cafe Bohemia on May 17 1958. This phenomenally rare performance is a bonus gem worthy of this edition. Total Time : 77 :01.

01/14/73 Memorial Auditorium Digital/320VO 1 A- Very decent sounding source with very little crowd noise. Slight noticeable microphone noises. Slight tape hiss. I have changed the track starting points to the beginning of the songs. As a footnote: Sugar Mountain website lists "Cowgirl In the Sand" as being the 6th song played. I believe this may be in error as I can tell of no interuption between the two existing tracks. And the tour setlists before and after this date do seem to coincide with this setlist.
01/15/73 Maple Leaf Gardens Digital/320VO 1 A- This is a DAT clone reiceved in the 90's, and 1st time transfered. I noted that some versions of this show was shared in different way : 1) from the bootleg CD Lonely Week-end (incomplete) 76 minutes 2) a complete version (Generation unknown CDR version) but using lots of filter to avoid the noises at the point that sound seems go out from a tube (About 91 minute) 3) a complete version with some cuts during the talks (Generation unknown - taken from analog tapes) - unprocessed (with all the noises) - but inferior quality at my ears. My version come from a DAT clone of the analog master but with diginoises in "On the WAy Home" & "Time fades Away" + last song "Are you ready for the Country" was missing. So I replaced and patched those songs with the tracks taken from the Bootleg CD "Lonely Week-end", and added the last song "Are you Ready For the Country" from the filtered version and applyed a bit of equalization to sound similar at the all tracks of my transfer. At the end Here to you the best in terms of sound quality and the more complete version of the Maple Leaf Gardens '73 show Hope you enjoy A. V.

??/??/76 "1976 Tour Compilation" Digital 1 A A compilation of acoustic songs from the 1976 tour with Crazy Horse (the first Crazy Horse tour with Frank "Pancho" Sampedro taking the place of the late Danny Whitten). Joel Bernstein first connected with Neil a few years earlier as a photographer, and has played a lot of roles in Neil's career, including, most relevant, official archivist. How this tape got out to traders is not clear, one version is that Joel gave the tapes to the roadcrew at the end of the tour as a souvenir. At any rate, it's been bootlegged for many years now. Sound quality is excellent, as it should be for a soundboard recording (Neil records essentially all of his concerts).

01/20/92 Paramount Northwest Theater FLAC 1 A Part of Neil's solo tour, on its first leg in 1992. This was in fact the first date of the tour, and the first of two consecutive nights at the Paramount. It features the live debut of "You and Me," "War of Man," "Old King," "Such a Woman," and "Natural Beauty." Neil hits two false starts trying to get acclimated to this premiere night of the tour. This show has surfaced here a number of times, but fell off the tracker about two years ago. If your version is a single disc from KTS's "Silver & Gold," then it's been hacked away at some to bring it down to a 78 minute running time. Ditto "Early Harvest" and possibly some other titles. The "Dreamin' Man" boot simply drops "Old Man" from its disc altogether. tbugsett uploaded a version here in November 2009 from a DAT clone, and that had an 83 minute running time. Not sure if this one is the same source or some other, but it is nice and clear except for the applause and ethusiastic whoops which weigh in heavily at times here and there. The tape transport on this was somewhat wobbly, but it doesn't seem to have affected the transfer. There's a slight analog hiss, but not worth muffling the entire recording with computer noise reduction, so season to personal taste for playback with your own equalizer settings. Sugar Mountain and a few other sources list the running time on this show as 86 minutes, and this one clocks in closer to 87 minutes, so if nothing else, at least this version appears to be the most complete to date. Over the years on dime, EZT, the Archival Group, and through all the various and assorted other trading groups online preceding that, and the CDR, DAT, and analog cassette traders which came before, I've gathered a moderate collection of items to share. I've helped with transfers (the Cactus and related uploads from over a decade ago here, and currently a bite out of the massive Stonecutter Archives), contributed setlists and corrections to many a torrent -- all the sort of things that don't raise one's share ratio. I've shared some of my masters back in the old snail mail days, but it's high time to give back more here from where I've received so much. I had meant to do a roll-out with something grand and possibly a series (Elegymart #1, #2, etc.), but that's been done countless times before. At this point not only have we've all aged along with dime's existence, but our media and the equipment that can play it back has as well. So rather than any fanfare or concern over share ratio, consider this upload another step in a more diligent attempt to beat the time and to circulate the collection. Enjoy, elegymart

06/17/09 Olympiahalle FLAC 1 A Here's a recording of Neil show in Munich last night. It was a good show, Neil was in a good mood after having removed all the seating places from the front of the stage so that everybody was standing up. He joked about the responsibility of the choice with Ben Keith (he likes to sit down while everybody else is standing up !). Neil played On the way home with the full band (him sitting on piano) 4 times during the rehearsals followed by a instrumental version of When you dance. We got On the way home during the main set (first time for this tour) while When You Dance was skipped. This show was about 2 hours long (long long Down by the river) so it's one of the longest shows of this tour. I hope you'll enjoy - here's my effort after 7 hours hard driving back thru' the Alpes with lots of animals (deers, foxes, squirrels, badgers) standing in the middle of the road ( Artwork will follow when I get pictures of the show from a friend.

04/28/16 Ascend Amphitheatre FLAC 1 A Mastering Notes: Some minor wind noise. Steve diplomatically (believe it or not) tells someone to basically STFU at the start of "Down By The River".
04/29/16 Tom Lee Park FLAC 1 B Taper Notes: - "Down by the River" was played for almost 36 minutes. - "Are There Any More Real Cowboys?" was dedicated to Willie Nelson in honor of his 83rd birthday. - Beale is right on the banks of the Mississippi in a flat park on the riverbank, so more of an "open air" sound vs. echoes. - Neil's first show in Memphis since 1983. Mastering Notes: - Some annoying crowd chatter, and at one point Steve tells a girl to quit bumping him because he's filming. - Some "swirling" of the stereo effect, likely due to the distance Steve was from the stage in an open air venue.
06/05/16 SSE Hydro FLAC 1 B On the recording: set the levels perfectly giving just enough room for EQ/Amp boost (as expected from experience in this venue it was quite distant sounding being far back in a large arena. A little treble boost has compensated to a certain extent.) Anyone interested in this tour shouldn't miss this one. Bit of a subdued crowd however Neil and the band played an energy packed set. I love "Winterlong" and the rendition here was perfect. Another standout was a 24 minute "Love and Only Love" Enjoy the show!

07/01/18 Auditorium Theatre 0 A NOTES FROM THE TAPER: Well, God was in town, and it *was* Sunday, so figured I'd check out all the fuss. Imagine, if you will, chilling in Neil's basement. The stage was as fung shui as could be, with a nice little acoustic patch in the middle, and Neil was surrounded by *four* pianos. The show started with him on acoustic for 5 songs, then electric (Ohio), then he worked his way around the keys (some only used for one song), back to electric (Angry World), then back to the acoustics for the end of the show. He was in fine spirits, with his dry, deadpan humor in full display. Still trying to absorb it all. This was taped from the gallery, but between the Alaskan hippy lettuce and my 'negotiating skills' (I promised all within 3 seats of me a copy of the raw file via link, and handed out some nugs), and other than the jackass who decided "Hey, Peaceful Valley Boulevard would be a GREAT time to open and eat a bag of chips...", I think the audience did a fine job in cooperating with the taper in their midst. Probably one of the top 10 shows I've seen in my lifetime, with the history of the venue (with Neil) and Neil's humor itself being strong points..."Ohio" had the tears welling (but not falling), as it was just such power from one man on stage. Once again, kudos to Dennis for the prompt turnaround...translation: MEGA THANKS! And fuck me for not dropping the coin on a 'spendy ticket' and instead trying to milk a "good 'un" out of the gallery (your ears can be the judge). Hopefully you kids dig it as much as I did. What could be next? Stay tuned! ---Dr. Deep is moving to Peaceful Valley Boulevard

03/03/76 Aichken Taiikukan Digital/320 VO 1 A Neil Young and Crazy Horse: Wet Show. [Bootleg] Recorded Live at Aichken Taiikukan, Nagoya, Japan - March 03, 1976. Label:Tarantura This was Young’s first visit to Japan and he played seven shows in Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Tokyo. All of the shows have been taped and many pressed. The most recent releases include Another Osaka (Screamer), which contains half of the March 4th show, and GFK (Watch Tower) containing the Fukuoka tape. Wet Show, one of two recent Neil Young releases on the Tarantura label, contains a brand new complete audience recording. An older excellent audience recording exists and was released several years ago on You Are Just A Dream (F*!#in’ Up FUPCD-2001/2002), but is missing the second encore “Cortez The Killer.” Wet Show legitimately has the second encore and for the first time this show is complete. The sound quality is simply stunning. It is a three dimensional stereo audience recording taped right in front of the stage. The balance between the instruments and audience is perfect, and is detailed enough to pick up Young’s off-mic comments. This recording of the first show of 1976 Japanese Tour is from a previously uncirculated master and contains a previously uncirculated second encore of Cortez The Killer. This is a recent release from the apparently exclusive Tarantura label and is supposed to be direct from the original cassette masters. The sound is stellar

05/24/03 Red Square CDR 2 B+ Pretty good soundboard from Paul's historic Red Square show last year; parts of this concert were used in the A&E special last year. 08/01/11 Wrigley Field FLAC 1 A Amazing show by Sir Paul, the second of two historic nights at Chicago's Wrigley Field. His last Chicago appearances in 2005 were somewhat of lackluster, disappointing affair, so it was nice to see him roaring back with a vengeance on two very hot (90 degrees at show time) summer nights. The setlist was heavier on Wings material (7 songs, I think) than any Paul tour I can remember; I think most of us had forgotten how many great songs Paul's lesser-regarded band recorded in the 1970s. A big surprise for me was that the setlist varied significantly from the first night -- considering that he generally puts on a heavily scripted show where even the banter is identical every night, it was shocking that he swapped in 6 songs that weren't performed the first night. Phenomenal performance; I still can't believe that I saw a 69-year-old man put on a 170-minute set in the heat on two consecutive nights. The band sounded great, and I thought Paul was in really good voice. Maybe the key for him is to scale back to a dozen shows a year. This recording sounds really good overall. I was more or less in line with the right speaker stack, and mercifully the people in front of me were seated for most of the show. The mix was a little harsh for the first 2-3 songs and settled down nicely. I'm not sure whether it was the mix or my location, but the vocals were lower in the mix than I'd prefer -- not buried by any means, but not as prominent as I would have hoped for. It's a minor point -- the sound is really good. I had a very chatty crowd around me, and you will hear it between tracks -- they really annoy me, but I'm not sure most people will really notice. I haven't listened to the whole recording yet, but for the most part I think they were quiet and didn't intrude on the music -- there may be points in the quiet songs (tracks D1T16-20) where you can hear them periodically, but for the most part I don't think they really interfere with one's enjoyment of the music. I used Audio Cleaning Lab to cut the mid-range a little bit (it made the sound a little sharper, particularly the rhythm guitar and bass) and emphasize a couple higher frequencies to bring out the vocals a little better. Minor stuff; for the most part, this is the raw recording. Hopefully, Beatles/McCartney fans will enjoy this recording -- I was happy with it. I wish he'd tour more often because he really is a national treasure; however, considering that he's nearly 70 years old and still performing at a high level, I suppose we should be thankful for what we get. There was a fan holding up a sign that said, "I saw you at the Amphitheater in 1964 and have been following you for 47 years!" That really struck me; most pop stars today would consider it a good career if they can stay relevant for 10% of that time.

06/13/01 Greek Theatre FLAC 1 A A couple of days after Paul Simon joined Paul McCartney at his Landmine Benefit, Macca returned the favor by sitting in at Paul Simon's show at the Greek Theater for one song. It's a fun duet. Otherwise, this is a pretty representative setlist from Simon's summer 2001 tour, which was more or less a shortened version of what he played in his fall 2000 theater tour. I believe the only song in this set that didn't appear in 2000 is the final encore, "Loves Me Like A Rock."

I bought a VIP ticket ($150) so I could stand close to the stage, behind the Gold VIP section ($750). See picture in the Comments. The weather was perfect, meaning it didn't rain. The recording is just okay, not stellar. There was excessive wind noise in one channel throughout the show. I found it very distracting, so I removed the channel and used the other channel to create a Pseudo-Stereo recording. I did some EQ (decreased highs, boosted lows) as well. Near complete video was obtained and will be shared here eventually.

04/26/75 Sports Arena Digital 1 A Back-story: The fan recording of a concert is really an extension of taking snapshots of your heroes. B ack in the ‘60s and ‘70s recordable media was just making its way into households as a consumer electronic device, either an expensive reel-to-reel deck or a convenient cassette recording deck. Just imagine sneaking one of those into a concert these days. More likely, the stealth recorder of choice today would be a mini-disc recorder or your cell phone…small enough to fit your pocket. But Mike Millard was different. He arrived early at concerts near his home, pulled out a wheelchair from the boot of his car, and proceeded to wheel himself into the arena, presenting himself as being physically handicapped. He managed to secure front row "seats," almost always front and centre. Hidden underneath his wheelchair was a Nakamichi stereo cassette deck hooked up to two high-quality AKG mics. Security guards in those days were probably unaware of such goings-on. His recordings are much sought after for their quality - capturing the expanse of the stage plus the great ambience of the halls. His close proximity eliminated any echo from his recordings. All the instruments recorded right off the front speakers. Plant’s voice is crystal clear. But Millard had a habit of marking his tapes when he copied them for another collector or fan. He would, for instance, lower the levels when transferring the audio to a VHS tape or lower the volume in mid-song when making a cassette copy. It has been said he detested bootleggers who pressed up his recordings onto vinyl or CD to sell. To that end, he kept a log of all the trades he made with clear indications of what markings he did to the tapes. That way, he knew which of his trades were sent to bootleggers. He worked as a custodian in a public school. In a fit of depression, he committed suicide in 1990. His friends say he destroyed all copies of his Led Zeppelin recordings. What has survived are the first generation copies he made and shared freely with other Zep fans. These are what are now being traded back and forth. Millard was active from 1974 to the ‘80s and was said to have taped shows by Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jethro Tull and even Kansas. To date, we have never found a copy of his Who or Tull recordings. The non-Zeppelin masters are supposedly in the possession of Millard’s family. Hopefully, someday they will be shared again. This show is VERY desirable as this is one of very few FULL 1975 concert boots available. It contains the best-existing versions of Dick Parry performing a saxophone solo in "Echoes" and the prototypes " Raving and Drooling" and "You've Gotta Be Crazy," which would eventually become "Sheep" and "Dogs" respectively. After You Gotta Be Crazy, Roger Waters says "It was a cruel song.... But fair. The next tune we're going to do for you is another new number, it's called 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond.' It has something to do with Syd Barrett who some of you might remember..... & some of you probably won't."

01/30/76 Boston Music Hall FLAC 1 A an Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978. His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck, and though they are somewhat lo-fi compared to his later work, some very great moments in rock history were captured for posterity. In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes. He was also fortunate enough to have a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings. In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes. He recorded many of the major 70's bands: Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull,ELP, Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Who, Al Stewart, Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Jean-Luc Ponty, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Faces, Rush, Rick Wakeman, Kansas, as well as several "under the radar" acts. Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated. Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes. No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers. Feel free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording. Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community. Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely. The transfers are available as 16bit/44.1KHz flac files suitable for CD burning, and also as 24bit/96KHz flac files for those who prefer the higher resolution. Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you. Kev & Carl June 2009

05/21/95 The Gorge Ampitheatre FLAC 1 A Undoubtedly one of the major factors that surrounds the JEMS archive is the surprise factor and this is confirmed with the great variety of artists that conforms the archive. You will never know what you can find. And this time, we move away from the 70's and 80's classics to bring you a brand new transfer done by none other than Mike Ziegler. JEMS caught a lot of shows on R.E.M.’s 1995 tour, including their first-ever appearance in the great outdoors of the Gorge, which is a beautiful place to see a concert and a horrible place to get to and get home from. We had seen Portland two nights before and Vancouver the night before we drove east for this one with a lot of friends in tow. Needless to say we were a bit worn out for our third show in three nights. Its a noisy crowd as you might expect from an outdoor venue, but the recording is very clear and close (samples provided) and the band plays a strong, solid if ultimately unspectacular set. I do give them credit for playing as-yet-unreleased material that would later wind up on New Adventures In Hi-Fi. On this night we got “Departure” along with the Monster outtake “Revolution.” Thanks to Mike Ziegler for doing the transfer and to frogster for the help provided with the track split and the upload. R.L. Burnside --- Approximate Hours: 0
Show Date Venue Media Type Media Count Sound Quality Notes
04/29/00 Double Decker Fest CDR 0 A North Mississippi guitarist R.L. Burnside was one of the paragons of state-of-the-art Delta juke joint blues. The guitarist, singer and songwriter was born November 23, 1926 in Oxford, MS, and made his home in Holly Springs, in the hill country above the Delta. He lived most of his life in the Mississippi hill country, which, unlike the Delta region, consists mainly of a lot of small farms. He learned his music from his neighbor, Fred McDowell, and the highly rhythmic style that Burnside plays is evident in McDowell's recording as well. Despite the otherworldly country-blues sounds put down by Burnside and his family band, known as the Sound Machine, his other influences are surprisingly contemporary: Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Lightnin' Hopkins. But Burnside's music is pure country Delta juke joint blues, heavily rhythm-oriented and played with a slide. It wasn't until the 1990's that he began hitting full stride with tours and his music, thanks largely to the efforts of Fat Possum Records. The label has issued recordings made by a group of Burnside's peers, including Junior Kimbrough, Dave Thompson and others. Up until the mid-'80s, Burnside was primarily a farmer and fisherman. After getting some attention in the late '60s via folklorists David Evans and George Mitchell (Mitchell recorded him for the Arhoolie label), he recorded for the Vogue, Swingmaster and Highwater record labels. Although he had done short tours, it wasn't until the late '80s that he was invited to perform at several European blues festivals. In 1992, he was featured alongside his friend Junior Kimbrough (whose Holly Spings juke joint Burnside lives next to), in a documentary film, Deep Blues. His debut recording, Bad Luck City, was released that same year on Fat Possum Records. Burnside has a second record out on the Oxford-based Fat Possum label, Too Bad Jim (1994). These recordings showcase the raw, barebones electric guitar stylings of Burnside, and on both recordings he's accompanied by a small band, which includes his son Dwayne on bass and son-in-law Calvin Jackson on drums, as well as guitarist Kenny Brown. Both recordings also adequately capture the feeling of what it must be like to be in Junior Kimbrough's juke joint, where both men played this kind of raw, unadulterated blues for over 30 years. This is the kind of downhome, backporch blues played today as it has been for many decades. In 1996, Burnside teamed with indie-rocker Jon Spencer to cut A Ass Pocket O' Whiskey for the hip Matador label; he returned to Fat Possum in 1998 for the more conventional Come on In. As Burnside had been recording intermittently since the late '60s a spate of re-issues and live recordings began to appear in the 2000's. Chief among them were Mississippi Hill Country Blues, largely recorded in the Netherlands in the 1980s; First Recordings, which gathered 14 of George Mitchell's 1967 field recordings of Burnside in Coldwater, MS; a live set documenting a west coast tour Burnside on Burnside appeared in 2001. His next studio album Wish I Was in Heaven Sitting Down appeared in 2000 but it would be another 4 years before the next new R.L. Burnside recording Bothered Mind was released. That same year Burnside suffered a heart attack and underwent bypass surgery. He never fully recovered from the attack and in 2005, at the age of 79, R.L. Burnside passed away in a Memphis, TN hospital.

11/11/10 Verizon Theatre FLAC 1 A By far my best recording, if not for a little chatter and a couple of close screamers it would be as close to perfect as I am capable with the equipment I have in a stealth arrangement. I did alter some before posting. I lowered volume on the applause between songs . I did some frequency filtering on the screams of a woman who was sitting right behind my right shoulder, and another sitting two seats to my left. I was rather aggressive between songs, and more gentle on three spots during songs. I think that it sounds good. Let me know if you disagree. Chatty neighbors: FOR THE SUMMER, LET IT BE ME (a little), GOD WILLING AND THE CREEK DON'T RISE (the worst), LIKE ROCK & ROLL AND THE RADIO ( just a little), TROUBLE (at the begining), I FORGOT MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW, HEY ME, HEY MAMA. The only song spoiled is GOD WILLING AND THE CREEK DON'T RISE. It's too bad, Ray did it very well. I do get tired of the talking and the screaming. Well, they paid their money so they deserve whatever they consider a good time. Too bad, they impact the pleasure for the rest of us.

A friend of mine taped this at the show and this is the only known recording of the event. I was there and saw him recording and was able to make a copy of his master tape, which has since been lost to a house fire. I did the transfer to CD. There are some problems, it is a TAO disk and one channel cuts out (track 10) but the energy, the songs and Cindy Cashdollar's dobro really stand out here. Rose Hill Drive was off to the side of the stage watching RRFB play. Robert motioned for Daniel to get his guitar and come onstage. Daniel played for a song or two, and started to walk offstage after that. Robert looked at him as if, 'what else do you have to do.... stay and play', then Robert put his hat on Daniel's head and he stayed up to play guitar for a few more tunes. 10/29/09 Madison Square Garden FLAC 1 A Incredible Night of music. Had an "limited view" seat that was more like no view at all! To add insult to injury the section also had no sound! Recorded Tom Hanks and Jerry Lee Lewis from there and relized it wasn't going to be very good. Quickly relocated myself to one of the expensive seats and luckily it's rightful owner never showed up. As such the sound on the first two track isn't the best, but included for the sake of completeness. Other issues include a talkative crowd during CSN (guess they weren't fans); also had an equipment issue near the end of Simon & Garfunkel's set. Didn't miss any music but the recoding levels did peak a bit on "Cecelia" Did my best to even things out in Audacity, but it's still a little uneven. Other than those issues this is a excellent recording of a great night! AN AMAZING CONCERT. TOP NOTCH GUESTS AND MUSIC. -ADY

03/11/67 Cousen's Gymnasium, Tufts University Digital 1 B This concert is the same show as the more commonly found S&G bootleg Live At Tufts University 66 (AKA Sounds Of Silence Live). I own the Live At Tufts University 66 bootleg and I've done a side by side comparison between that bootleg and this one that Asso has posted and can confirm that they are definitely the same concert. However, this version posted by Asso features much better sound quality than the Live At Tufts University 66 bootleg that I own and is almost certainly a few generations closer to the original mastertape. It also features an extra song - the very first track, "The Leaves That Are Green" - which is not found on either the Live At Tufts University 66 or Sounds Of Silence Live bootlegs. I think that the artwork on this Medford, MA bootleg may be incorrect regarding the date though. According to most sources, this particular gig at Tufts University was recorded by Columbia Records in 1966, not in March 1967. It was supposedly recorded for a planned S&G live album, which was unfortunately shelved and never released. I have to say, that from the evidence on this bootleg recording, I’m convinced that this is a late-1966 gig. I’ve reached that conclusion from studying the audience’s reactions to the songs as well as Paul and Art’s comments. For example, it’s obvious from Art’s comments during this concert that the song “Red Rubber Ball” has already been a big hit for The Cyrkle (their version having been released in April 1966). In addition, Art mentions that A Poem On The Underground Wall was included on their last album, which would’ve been Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, released in early October 1966. However, the audience seems totally unfamiliar with “The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy)”, “The Dangling Conversation” and “For Emily Whenever I May Find Her”, so it’s probable that the album had only just been released. Also, tellingly S&G don’t play the song A Hazy Shade Of Winter during this concert, which was released as a single in November 1966 and peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during December. If you listen to S&G’s January 1967 concert at the Lincoln Centre, New York (which has been officially released) they play A Hazy Shade Of Winter because it had just been a big hit and predictably, it gets a good reception from the audience. If this concert was indeed from March 1967, wouldn’t they be playing A Hazy Shade Of Winter? Wouldn’t the audience also seem familiar with songs from the Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme album, which would’ve been 5 months old by then? My feeling is that this concert must’ve been recorded in October or at the latest November 1966. By the way, the Cousins Gymnasium at Medford where this bootleg of Asso's was recorded is within the grounds of Tufts University, hence the two different venue names on the two bootlegs. They are both essentially the same place. So, all in all, even though this bootleg concert is very well known to collectors, I would urge any S&G fan to download this particular bootleg that Asso has posted, for the previously unbootleged track ("The Leaves That Are Green") and also for the much improved sound quality. 05/21/70 NCRV Television FLAC 1 A his was downloaded in FLAC from a hub and again the lineage is a bit sketchy, but it was definitely extracted from the Yellow Dog bootleg "Welcome In Holland" (catalog # YD 059/60). The recording clearly ran too slow -- though by no means as slow as the first copy of the concert I obtained, back in the '70's -- so I have speed-corrected it using Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 10 (the speed problems were inconsistent, so I worked on each track individually, making comparisons with many other shows, especially the Paris show from the same month; the original timings are indicated in brackets). I have not applied any noise reduction, although listeners who don't like any hiss might want to do so. Certainly a soundboard, though with some volume fluctuations here and there. Wonderful rendition of "Bridge" with piano-only accompaniment -- FAR better than the Ohio '69 version with it's crappy thumpety-thump drumming....
10/08/93 Paramount Theater FLAC 1 B+ I've only seen 3 tapes total of this entire 21 show run, my tape is by far, the best and the only one made from the optimal recording location. I'd love to be wrong, as I wouldn't mind scoring another killer show from this run. The show was billed as "The Concert Event Of A Lifetime" and even though they were really saying that as it was a retrospective of Paul's career, it is still one of the best concerts I have seen. Blows away the 2003 Reunion tour as far as performance w/Garfunkel.

The Steve Miller Band are the joker in the pack. Steve Miller, best known for his hits The Joker and Jet Airliner, was a dedicated musician who was taught by Les Paul. His first few albums all followed in the vein of '60s albums, psychedelic and socially aware - Children Of The Future and Brave New World. But by 1973, he tasted chart success with the single, The Joker, number 1 in the US. After that, all else was put on hold as Miller tried hard to follow on that success. While this preformance predates the release of 1976's Fly Like An Eagle, three of the songs on that album are previewed at this show. You can buy Steve Miller's Fly Like An Eagle here.

11/23/19 Bridgestone Arena FLAC 1 A The Last Waltz Show notes by Z.. As a longtime fan of The Band datin back to 1973, I felt a need if I was going to pick one of The Last Waltz shows, it would have to be the last one hee in Nashville. With so many special guests that I hardly ever get to see, this was a no brainer! All the shows my fellow tapers have captured and uploaded have been great great shows, but the lure of this one was gnawing at me. I reached out to my buddy Alan (Ed in Training), and he was on board. We got their in time for a quick bite at Martin's BBQ Joint near the venue. I prefer their other location. The lne was out the door on this cold and windy night. We bypassed the line and found 2 seats at the bar, in front of the giant screen for football. We dined on Giant Baked Potatoes Stuffed With Brisket, Cheddar Cheese, Butter, Sour Cream, And Green Onions, along with a bowl Of Brunswick Stew. Picked up our tickets at Will Call and headed inside to the lines with Airport Metal Detectors, as well as conveyor x-rays. I put my bag in the bin and told the 2 attendants I was here to audio record the show and this was all my audio gear. I NEVER opened my bag. I headed straight for the soundboard cage as I bought a pair of tickets in the section 15' away.I met Chris who Just finished sound check, and Graham who remembered me from taping Gov't Mule when he was sound engineer. Graham was filling in as TW could not be there tonight. The soundboard was not in the back of the floor, but about halfway back, and I was in te very front. I was happy as Arnold Ziffle in the mud to be in that spot. The music was awesome, and sure enough, the guests started to roll out and Join in this glorious night of music! I damn near melted when Emmy Lou came out. My first time seeing her was in 1974 with my buddies Mark and Eli as she opened up for David Bromberg 2 nights in a row in Rochester, where we were going to school. Back then it was her Hot Band, unreal group of musicians.I had tears in my eyes as the hair on the back of my neck stood up! My favorite songs of the night were a 15 minute Who Do You Love, Chest Fever, Helpless, Mystery Train, Mannish Boy, Evangeline, Forever Young, and I Shall be Released. Very little chatter and distractions on the recording as we listened to it on the drive back home. Great to see Rayner, Carissa, PJ, Tracy, and Mike! I wish this Phrog character/moderator, would open up and let folks make comments on torrents again. I think I have my text file in place, as I took detailed notes during both sets. If I made any errors, feel free to get in touch at zmanatl at bellsouth dot net. EnJoy!!!

05/20/11 Ahoy Digital 1 A This note's for you: Do not encode to MP3 Do not buy or sell this recording or any other recordings by the Dutch Masters. The recordings are made by fans for fans and are made freely available on the internet for those who want to relive the concert or were not able to make it to the show. Particularly important: Support the artists by buying their official releases and merchandise and especially by going to their shows. We noticed on a couple of occasions that Dutch Master recordings were being sold on Internet sites in Holland such as Marktplaats.nl and similar sites. We have nothing to do and do not want to be associated with the people who do this and we will take action to have these advertisements removed from those sites. Please give me a note when you spot these kinds of advertisements. As said: our recordings are made by fans for fans. They are intended to be available freely. So trade freely, do not sell or buy these recordings! Enjoy the music!!!
