08/17/01 Fox Theater  /  Boulder, CO shn This show was held as part of some radio exec promotion thing where Suzanne Vega and Russell Crowe's band Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts also appeared. It was mostly filled with suits from out of town and local chicks come to see the midget Crowe do his best Mellencamp impersonation. Tickets were not available to the general public but maybe 50 total. By the time Byrne came to the stage, most people had left. Mind you, the Fox isn't a large venue by any means and this just made things all the more intimate, which I think you will discern by listening to the recording.

Magazine": http://www.whereseric.com/ecfaq/bootlegs/best-clapton-bootlegs-1970.html "The one misnomer is the ‘other’ version of “Bottle of Red Wine”, which on listening you find is the same version on both nights. One possible explanation is that in fact it wasn’t performed on the second night, with Marc Roberty’s book, The Complete Recording Sessions, listing it erroneously."

12/15/70 The Matrix  /  San Francisco, CA flac Comments: (from Dead List Reader) This is Crosby, Garcia, Lesh & Hart, sometimes known as David And The Dorks. 12/17/70 is of the band in performance; it may be a complete set. 12/15/70 is part of a soundcheck or rehearsal, almost certainly a tape run by the band for work purposes (as we know was Jerry's practice); reportedly there is a 49 minute version of this rehearsal tape also in circulation, but unexamined at this writing. DeadBase IX lists gigs by these musicians at the Matrix on December 15, 16 & 17, billed as "Jerry Garcia & Friends."

??/??/78 Philadelphia  /  Philadelphia, PA flac
08/26/79 Reading Festival  /  Reading, UK shn Molly Hatchet did not have a contract with Epic until 1978. Songs on this recording came from their second 1979 album. Another listing of this show is 08/??79. I list it that way as do others because I was told it was a rare source on Reel to Reel, broadcast over the BBC in 1/27/80. There might be audience recordings from 08/26/79 and their might be a reel to reel BBC broadcast from 1/27/80 but the show was PERFORMED on 08/26/79. There could simply be two sources. But most people list it as FM. So 01/27/80 could even be a REBROADCAST. But the 1976 date is a DUD and is WRONG.

06/22/77 Vara Studios  /  Hilversum, Netherlands flac For years the best known set of Van's brief collaboration with Dr. John in 1977 has widely circulated only in incomplete form and mediocre sound on a bootleg known as Amsterdam's Tapes. Now, thanks to the persistence, dedication and collaboration of VLS (vanlose stairway) members and friends, this rare show has finally been assembled from the best sources available to us, complete as broadcast on Dutch FM radio. After 20+ years, we are sure fans will agree that it is about time! Better yet, we have also unearthed the "raw audio source" of that set, taken from the live performance for a TV program called "Wonderland" in Vara Studios, Hilversum, Netherlands. This audio has never before been circulated, and although available only in mono, it will surely delight the attentive listener. To complete this exciting discovery, the second CD of the set comes "enhanced" with a picture gallery from the performance.
