Comments: This is the fourth recorder for the Brescia gig, an incomplete recording of (IMHO) really nice quality! The taper, G.O. , had shared this transfer on youtube and, finally, nipote was able in contacting him and getting the lossless 16/44 WAV files of what he had shared on youtube.
The original master recording was made with a Geloso R2R recorder and then copied onto this (1st gen) Sony C-60 cassette (a picture of the cassette is included).
Unfortunately, the transfer we've got (which is the same as on youtube) was performed at a too loud level and then it has severe clipping, so the first thing I managed to do was to repair all the flattened/clipped peaks with the declip processor in Izotope RX software while also reducing the overall gain by 10dB (yes, it was that much overloaded!).
Then I applied automatic declicker with (very conservative setting) to simply remove some of the clicks due to the previous clipping.
As a last step, i did apply speed correction as the recording ranged from about 7,5% to about 11,5% too slow speed. Nothing else was done.
Of course, there is still some hearable distortion left, here and there... but I'd say it's just a lot more enjoyable than the "really hard to listen to" RAW transfer.
I really hope that the taper will consider the idea to make a new transfer, being his one a really nice recording in itself and which will benefit from a top quality transfer.
But, meanwhile, I do wholeheartedly thank him for what we have here.

Enjoy,

Vince.
