This concert was an absolute highlight in the genre. After all these years, it still puts a smile on my face. The story behind this tape.
I wasn’t sure if DAF was still relevant in the 90s, therefore I hesitated to tape them. The band took the stage and immediately blew the hinges of my door!
The second song “Tanz der Mussolini” was an absolute cracker. Stupid me, all the equipment was packed away and I rushed to get the mike and DAT in order.
Unfortunately, I missed the first two songs. This tape starts with song 3 from the set list. As it was a festival show I wasn’t expecting an encore….
Show ended, band walked off stage and nothing seemed to indicate they would return to the stage. So after a minute or so, I packed the gear away.
Just as it was safely packed, the band came back on stage. And played “der Mussolini” again. And I missed it again! Arggg.
From memory they played another song as well but by the time I had the gear out again, it was all over.
If anyone else taped this show, I would definitively be interested in a copy. I taped a number
of bands that day, ranging from Das Ich, Front 242, Sisters Of Mercy, Deutsch Nepal and a few others.
Think the only copy I ever made of this master was for my French DAT buddy A.D. from Lyon.
He might have distributed more copies but here you go, a virtually unreleased master tape.
