With the permission of the great MC Ferret I have uploaded a set from one of my all time favorite shows. The atmosphere was incredible. The Ford Theatre is actually just outside of Hollywood nestled into a hillside just outside of Hollywood proper. Great medium-sized outdoor venue. The set-up at the Ford Theatre was that the slam pit was an actual pit; the empty orchestra pit. That gives those of us in the seats a gladiator presentation-like vantage point to look into the action safely from above.

Henry Rollins Band opened the show and bored my friends and I with his non-melodic death screams, but the LA punk crowd loves everything and anything Henry does so the pit was a hopping from the word go.

On this particular evening, the antics in the pit were as entertaining as the show on stage. Brightly dressed fashion punks with spiky hair ("chicken heads" as we called them) moshing away. The two shows, the pit and the musicians, started blending due to the enthusiasm of the stage divers who were getting bolder and bolder and starting to distract the band and the equalled enthusiasm of the security personal and the roadies who felt compelled to attack said punks as they climbed onto the stage. Some started to taught the security then dive back into the pit to get away and some actually tried to fight back. You'll hear the cheering, gasping and cursing shouts from those of us in the seats.
Agent Orange were up second in the evening line up (which was headlined by The Dickies). Agent Orange provided the crowd with melodic loud angry skate punk rock to promote their newest LP (the under-appreciated This Is The Voice). The punks were frantically (and amusingly) leaping and a diving and security and the roadies were punching and a grabbing. You'll also hear from some of the commentary from MC Ferret (and yours truly) that the band gets more ripping incredible as the situation gets more fucked up. It was a great night!

The Dickies were the headliner and maybe I'll upload that set eventually. My two memories from the Dickies set were Stan's guitar was too low in the mix and someone getting their face punched repeatedly on stage in front of Leonard who changes lyrics mid-song to "Ow Ow Ow" with each blow.
