I remember were in a state of shock. Apparently my cable was too. In the days of pre-digital cable, our system was very unreliable with interference and signal loss on almost a daily basis. This is not pristine video - but it's important video. In the true tradition of ABC News Nightline, Ted Koppel does an outstanding job of presenting this story. The groundwork is laid with an overview of the day's tragic news, the customary look back at the Grateful Dead, and Jerry's significance to our culture. He then interviews U.S. Senator (self described Deadhead) Patrick Leahy, fellow musician and Garcia's friend David Crosby, and New York Times music critic Jon Pareles.
