1. West 57th (CBS) 1985 (8:54)
Very entertaining report on the Grateful Dead 20th
anniversary shot at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. This
one really captures the concert experience. Lots of dancing,
drugs, and Deadheads. The shots of the band on stage are
really fine...palm trees in the background. Of all the
TV specials for my parents to see what the Dead was about,
I'm sorry they saw this one. Too much information!
2-3. KGO TV News (S.F.) 5-85 (2:23)
A couple of quick reports about the San Francisco visit
by the Gyuto Monks from Tibet. Interview with Mickey Hart.
4-6. KGO TV News (S.F.) 6-85 (9:09)
To mark the 20th anniversary of Grateful Dead, KGO TV
ran a three-part series on it's local newscast. Lots of very
familiar footage, some New Year's Eve '84, Chinese New Year '85,
Frost Ampitheater '85 and on the final report some footage from
earlier in the evening at the Greek Theater in Berkeley.
Interview clips with Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Bill Graham, David Gans
and others. Early in this series they mention Ron "Pigpen" McKernan,
while the shot is actually Phil Lesh from the famous film by
Robert Nelson. |
