According to the Jimi Hendrix biography "'Scuse Me While I Kiss The Sky," festival promoters forgot to pick Jimi up at the airport, forcing Jimi travel to the performance site via rented helicopter. Jimi arrived just as he was being announced, and descended to the stage from the helicopter via rope ladder !
