Tech Notes: |
This is a once in a "lifetime" find - it is what we all live for as music collectors...a rare
gem that surfaces where virtually nothing exists. Aside from the two shows (from NYC) that exist in
trader land of this fine band, collectors and fans have been seeking and searching shows by this
short lived super-group of sorts...which brings me to this rare gem -
This is a cross seed of a show that was uploaded on DIME a few weeks ago by my fellow McLaughlin
fans on the one-word list. One of the issues some members on the list faced in getting the show
was that DIME is usually maxed out and they could not get the membership to download the show.
As an effort to help those who could not get this show on DIME, here is my offering via TTD
so that they too can share in the thrill of hearing this show.
For those helping seed this show with files downloaded from DIME - the music files (FLAC) are
identical and have not been touched. The only difference is this info. file, the front and back
cover and the new MD5 checksum file for all the resulting file set.
I have got the permission from the original set of folks who made sharing this show possible -
My infinite thanks to Alan Smith - who is the original taper and was kind enough to share this gem
with the rest of us. Kevin M. and Mark A. in the a-d conversion and mastering and Mark C. for the
really nice cover artwork.
Enjoy
Rajiv

This show is previously uncirculated. Thanks to UK mates, Alan S. for taping / sharing his
cassette master, and to Mark A. for the analogue to digital conversion. As little as possible
was done in post production and only to make it more sonically stable. Audio analysis, judicious
noise reduction, surgical equalization, etc., was performed in Sonar 5 / WaveLab using Waves
plug-ins.

Notes from the taper, Alan S.:
The cassette was recorded on a Philips portable tape recorder, smuggled into the circle of the
City Hall, by dangling the mic over the balcony. The recorder is long gone, and apart from it
having about five 'keys', being black in colour, and being bought for about £20 in the Spring
of 1969, that is the limit of its existence that I can recall.
