Notes: This was a house concert in a private home in North Berkeley which has a small performance space downstairs, sort of a ballroom with a little stage at one end. For this concert there was seating on the stage and main floor, and the piano was on the main floor. There were about 50 lucky people in attendance. The artists graciously allowed me to record. The microphones were positioned immediately next to the piano, mics pointed into the cavity of the piano. Slightly different positioning between the two sets. Thanks to Dapper Dave for organizing the event, and to Kirsten and Blair, our hosts.

"I unloaded some stuff and we quickly trundled off to Berkeley, two hours north, where I had an afternoon house concert at the home of Kirsten and Blair. This sweet couple have hosted four or five such events over the years (arranged by my friend Dapper Dave, whom we shall meet later), and I always love it. Today's concert was especially good: a full house that included friends Joel Sachs, John Lumsdaine, and my friend Phil's ex-piano teacher, Eric Shifrin, who sat in on a couple tunes. Well rested and with a good Steinway at my disposal, it was the best I'd played on this trip, and I made over $700. Afterwards a group of us ate above-average Mexican at Christopher's Not Too Fancy. Jill drove us back in the dark to Santa Cruz, and I went to bed at 11, looking forward to the next day. After more than 2500 miles of driving in a week's time, I anticipated doing absolutely nothing."
