Sergio Mendoza Y La Orkestra opened.

I brainstormed last week and built a little shelf out of a small 2x4 block and a small piece of plywood to mount my Atlas microphone bar onto. I put in two ring bolts into the front so I could bungie cord it to the front ceiling post next to the stage, and painted it black. (The problem I had before when I mounted just the mic brace to the post was that it resulted in limited positioning of the microphones). This worked like a dream! I strapped the little shelf to the post, about 10 feet off the floor, and positioned the mics in an ORTF pattern. I taped the 35 ft cables down back to the board (Thanks Bill!!!), so I could run the electronics in the safety of the board area, protected from the crowd.

The ceiling post makes for a Great mic stand! It's about 8-9 feet from the center of the stage and keeps the microphones safe from the crowd. It is concrete, and acts as a good isolation mount from the vibration on the floor.
