****a vanillag remaster****(VGRM02)

******************************************************************
So here is a show from Ryan Adams that I assume many of you already have as
it is the most downloaded Ryan Adams show on archive.org.  With good reason--
this show is truly OUTSTANDING!!!!  Both in terms of performance & sound quality,
this is one for the record books.  Ryan has always been cool about giving out SBD
patches, but many of them in the past have seriously lacked bass & sounded very
'thin'...not so here.  His soundman finally got it right(or he got a new guy, not sure)
& this one is actually a recording that could have been an official release(a bold
claim, for sure, but I'm serious...it is that tasty!!).  This was obviously a mix of the
SBD with two mics split wide on stage facing the crowd to add an audience feel
& the whole thing is just so warm & righteous.  Apparently, the band sat down
for this show & just connected with the crowd through their music & the results are
obvious when you listen.  Highlights include a monster "Magnolia Mountain", a
stellar "Easy Plateau", "Cold Roses", "Bird Song>Wild Flowers", "Dear John"...
really the whole thing--not a bad played number at this show.  I've really come
to appreciate Ryan's music in the last few years...a huge talent right here among
us--great player, singer, songwrighter, etc.  Very excited to see what he has in
store for us next.

Enjoy!!

About this remaster:
As I already stated above, this recording sounded amazing, but there were two main
things that were holding it back that turned out to be very 'labor intensive' to correct:

1 - It was riddled with SBEs.  Some of these linked up fine, others turned out to
be 'double' SBEs, sometimes 'triple' SBEs that had to be found, deleted & then disguised
(don't worry, after all the work, you will never know any of them were there).

2 - The split stage mics yielded an artifact that I just could not deal with:  LOUD
clappers at the end of every tune.  There was one guy in the right mic that was
clapping right at the mic for the first few tunes & then stopped for most of the show.
Good news, but hold the phone...no sooner did he stop, than some other yahoo took
over his job of clapping loudly directly into the left mic for the remainder of the
show.  Removing these turned out to be a massive effort to get rid of each one
cleanly or simply lower them in volume.  Had to be done though as the show is so
perfectly mixed & beautifully mellow & then that loud clapping took me out of
my beautiful head space every time.

Also threw in some 2000 studio session from up in Boston for good measure at
the end.  This needed the remaster treatment as well since the channels were
out of phase with each other & not lined up properly from the beginning...not so
anymore.

Enjoy VGRM02 & let me know what you think--good or bad!!

Cheers!!
