The taper recalls that this show was performed at what was then called Miller Court, at the New York State Fairgrounds. Unlike the grandstands, Miller Court was an open area with no seats, and was where most of the free concerts were held. The band played for nearly three hours to about 500 people who showed up.
The show was recorded using Aiwa headphone mics, which were tiny, battery-powered mics that mounted just above the ears on the headband of headphones. Standing in a sweet spot close to the stage, they produce something akin to a binaural recording, very present and loud.
