this little exchange was from the original bit torrent comments: chocobot: let me clarify. i received the original wav files from Cobiwan, normalized, audience fade ins, seeded jasonsobel: when you normalized the original files, how much gain was added? thanks! chocobot: i added no gain, maximum amplitude was set at -0.5db. jasonsobel: all "normalization" does is add gain. But instead of the user specifying the amount of gain added, the software calculates how much gain to add for the desired result. In this case, if you set the max amplitude to -0.5dB, then the software would calculate how much gain is needed so that the highest peak peaks at -0.5dB. That's all it does. --------------------- in summary, we still don't know how much gain was added to this recording (through the "normalization" process), nor do we know how different it is from shnid 127382. |
