Show Notes:
Marc Ford's final 1990's show with the Crowes
Venue Notes:
The Meadows is a fair place to see a show, pretty steep sightlines and not the biggest barn by a stretch, still, it's SoCal, so not too
much to complain about.
Recording Notes:
Probably one of the most legendary shows in band history, show length excused...this show was a SHAMC tour-de-force with 5 songs from
that album, a top notch rare cut, a rump-shakin cover with Jorma, and a 'new' song rounding out the 8 song set...if only fans knew that
Marc was takin' a hiatus, perhaps the venue would have been more than 60% sold out...that said, there is nary a bump in the road for
this show. ALL songs are strong cuts, and Chris getting accosted by male strippers near the end is a priceless memory...the post-show
jam was also quite a nifty surprise, as it started off with "Chain Of Fools", THEN Jack Cassady came out with a poop-eatin' grin and
started pluckin' the opening strings of "White Rabbit", then, it all ended with an extended version of "Not Fade Away", with that
drumbeat at the end doin' time with the Energizer bunny (i.e. the drums just kept going and going and going...). All in all, these shows
were a blast, as the Crowes somehow found a way to cram the energy of a 2 hour show into 60 minutes each night...any and everyone
should trade for this entire tour, as it showcases a band at the top of their game (regardless of what some band members may have said
about other band members on national cable television specials...)
