notes:
-1st Phish or related show in Tucson in many years (9/21/99) - actually 1st Phish member solo band to come to Tucson ever - and 1st Phish or related show
even in AZ for many years - none in the Phish 3.0 era yet (hint, hint!).
-my 1st show with new Core mics - used my baffle head to get the true stereo sound on top of mic stand 6.5' high right by soundboard. The Cores passed
with flying colors - better signal response to Edirol and I think better bass in recording. Had to make some tweaks in adjusting to baffle that was
designed for different mics.
-an all star line up from jam band scene - been familiar for years with Scott being I'm a big Max Creek fan; & JMC is Steve Kimock's son; & Robert Walter
is well known for his B-3. Wasn't familiar with Craig Myers, but he was great not only on percussion, but also his backing vocals helped out immensely.
-I was only really well familiar with 4 of the tunes: "Cruel World" from Max Creek; "555" & "Yarmouth Road" from Phish; & "Cities" from Talking Heads,
so it was mainly a new experience for me on most. They really jammed out long on every tune except "Lonely Island" & "Barton Hollow" - 2 kind of quirky/
bluegrassy type tunes that's the norm for Mike. Some of the jams were just great, others meandered at times before finding themselves again. The vocals
were likely the weakest part of show, as at times they felt a bit awkward. Overall, real good/fun & upon listening to recording already growing on me
more! Robert Walter really let loose in 2nd set! Definitely a bit on prog rock side at times & with twists of Mike's weirdness.
-during "Black Tambourine" a large electronic drum type intstrument was passed around the audience and the sounds were part of the tune - Mike comments
about it mid-song saying it's how audience can participate in the music.
-crowd was ok in size only - definitely nowhere near full - no one in balcony even. Fun crowd/local friends for sure from Dead/Phish scene.
-another Sonoran Desert Recording taped, mastered and seeded by Matt23.
