This Source came with a text file: ----- Dealing with 24-bit/96KHz FLAC files These files will not burn to a CD-R, but will burn to a DVD+/-R. The advantage is better sound than standard CD. Also, you can fit more music on a DVD-A disk: about 2 hours at 24-bit/96KHz, or about 7 hours at 16-bit/44.1KHz (standard CD audio files) To burn them to disk, you need a DVD burner & DVD-A software. Also, you need a DVD-A compatible DVD player to play the resulting disks. For software, Sourceforge has recently released an open-source DVD-A burning software package with FLAC compatibility. Simply drag the FLAC files into the software, and it will decode the FLAC to 24/96 wav files & burn the DVD-A. Their website is here: http://dvd-audio.sourceforge.net/ Also, a commercial software package is available called Discwelder Bronze. This does not support FLAC, so you have to use FLAC Front End to decode the FLAC files to 24/96 wav files before burning. Their website is here: http://www.minnetonkaaudio.com/news/2004/bronzeOSX.html And here is a review of their software. http://tinyurl.com/3zkjr I expect Nero to support DVD-A burning in an upcoming version. The future is now, get with it, folks. ----- |
