Recording Information
Both tapes had an odd underlying intermittent but present for long time periods noise, like a fuzz on it. I also have a first gen made in 1983 which had the same fuzzy tone so I guess it was either the master tape or the PA.
We were directly on axis with the Right stack which was placed on the stage.
// / Cut at end, flip; missed ~90 seconds of music;spliced end of Eyes then uncut into Maybe You know
//^ cut for lead deck flip, didn't start until space

We had no plans to attend being we were told it was student tickets only. But the morning of this show I had a class cancel and Olvy and I figured we would go try to get tickets. The drive from Syracuse must have taken 6+ hours. We showed up about 4 PM in a parking lot which was roaring. NO tickets. Anywhere. We found out about the Healey lecture but decided to stay and keep looking. About 20 minutes before showtime a guy shows up and when I asked if he had extras he said No, then turned around and asked how much would we pay? Then told us they were student tickets, he wasn't really into the Dead, we offered $40 each which would have been MUCH more than I'd ever paid for a GD ticket up until that point. He accepted and we wound up with the two tickets pictured in the LMA jpg window.
Tom drove to the show ahead of us as he was going to Orono and Providence with his Maine Buddies, and the UVM tickets were student only supposedly so we chose not to go with him. But we gave him our Sony TCD5-M and mics. Then at the very last minute Olvy an I decided to drive from Syracuse to Burlington as mentioned above. Olvy found Tom during first set up near the Right stacks as my ticket was in the bleachers and I didn't get up there until second set. Tom says the guy we were patched out of was named John who used an Uher Cassette deck with 2 Sennheiser 421's and one Sennheiser 441 in the middle into a small mixer. We have it written down as a Yamaha mixer but no no historical proof exists that Yamaha made a small 3 channel mixer in the early 80's, Tom and I figure it must have been a Nakamichi MX100. This mic configuration mixing three to two channels on the fly, may be the cause of that underlying fuzziness, a bit of phase shift perhaps.
