I've just become aware that Gregg is allowed to be posted on TTD. I thought that anything Allman Brothers or related was on the NAB list, but I was in error. So, by request, I'm posting this show. Before anyone asks, I have no 24 bit version, as I do not archive these space wasting filesets.
This is a mix of two recordings designed to counter the weaknesses of both. Binko's tape had a bit of wind rumble for the last 20 minutes or so (it got really windy near the end, and the windscreens he bought can't withstand gusts like we were having). My recording came out essentially perfect, but there was no audience at all, making it a bit lifeless. Also, the PA speaker I sat in front of didn't have the rich tonal quality that the main PA had, so it sounded a bit hollow. The closeness to it, however, gave a near soundboard quality to the recording, close and dry. Mixing the two together allowed me to retain the crowd and tonal quality of Binko's tape, yet add to it the clarity of my recording. It also allowed me to scoop out the low end on Binko's recording where the wind rumble was while retaining the lows from my recording. Together they sound better than either one did separately.
