I scrubbed individual annoying claps by hand from T3(3 claps), T5(3), T6(6), T8(28), T9(11), T11(9), T14(13), T18(1), T23(1)
- Bruce has some trouble remembering some of the White Wheeled Limo lyrics
- Across The River is a totally different arrangement than I'm used to
- Valley Road is a unique arrangement too. JV Collier OWNS it.
- The band is having SO MUCH fun during "Rainbow's Cadillac"

Taper notes:
It's been a long while since I released a Bruce Hornsby show in the BARN series -- way back at BARN66, and when I was considering potential Hornsby shows to put out, I thought this one would be fun to listen to, and of very high quality. So now 74 BARN releases later at BARN140, I am putting out this excellent High Sierra Music Festival set from Bruce and the band.
This show was soon after he'd released his Big Swing Face album, which was his "departure" album, in that he apparently didn't play any keyboards on it (I own it but have never been able to listen to it, amazingly, due to some strange copy protection built into the CD that renders it unplayable in any of my CD players! At the time I wondered if it was going to effect his show at all (live Bruce Hornsby without a piano?), but rest assured, this is a standard (AWESOME) Bruce Hornsby set (if a little short due to it being a festival slot of limited time). There is just one songs from the then-current album -- "Take Out The Trash", plus a host of crowd-pleasers: "White Wheeled Limousine", "Across The River", "The Valley Road" (in a very unique arrangement), "Rainbow's Cadillac", "Stander On The Mountain" (as a nod to the Deadheads in the audience who were requesting it), "End Of The Innocence" (by request), and "Tango King" (also by request). The band is very very relaxed and happy to let the music go where it takes them -- so much so that after just a few songs Bruce realizes they jammed away most of their set time!
Anyway, I love this lineup of the band, and they could not be tighter than they were at this show! JV Collier is THE MAN on bass, and he is loud and clear on this recording.
Enjoy!
