Production Note from Marcus;
The first show of the 1992 year was again at the Coliseum Arena; This was the 9th show in 5 months, at the same venue, in the Bay Area, with 2 more over the next 2 evenings.
We must have been feeling brazen (or had a tall dude in our crew) because standing at 5Õ10Ó the mics would have been 4Ó above my head this evening, and while we push the boundaries, we arenÕt fools. Someone tall was blocking the mics from the view of the soundboard; John Ammons is tall and he may have been our blocker.
The Master tapes indicate both sets were run at 6Õ2Ó which is about as high as we would ever run stands FOB. An interesting thing I noticed on the first night is an overly ambitious snare drum slap-back. This may be due to the microphone height, the timing delay to the rear PA, or a combination of the two. The mics were definitely picking up odd hall acoustics. I didnÕt notice this any other night or on any other tape.
This show is significant in that two songs were played for the first time; So Many Roads & Wave to the Wind, a Jerry song and a Phil song, respectively.
No technical issues. A fine capture of a significant event.
