the tour story
Day two at Nassau Coliseum and you are a taper who had not expected to be on tour. Drive into Manhattan to Crazy Eddies and buy Maxell metal bias tapes. Of course we did, and we went relatively early because as Eric said, the ticket situation was tough. We wanted to get back to John's house and then to the lot as soon as possible to look for tickets for Eric and get me in line for doors. Aside from Crazy Eddies I wanted to show Eric around as he had never been to NYC. So we went on a small version of my NYC tour on our way back to the Island.

This show was highlighted by Matthew Kelly joining them on harp for a steamy Smokestack Lightning and more than a few "Who is this guy?" among the crowd, although the Kingfish alum had been an occasional guest of the band since the seventies. For my money the Cassidy > China > Rider first set closing sequence is top shelf. Many people point to the Scarlet > Fire as the set 2 highlight but the segue from Gimme Gimme Some Lovin > TOO is sweet and the Other One has a mean streak running through it.
