Notes:
# volume changes, both ours and Healy's first 3 minutes; afterward sound quality improves dramatically
/ There were more stage EQ issues after Samson, so we paused the tape.
The entire show suffers from the infamous summer of 1985 PA distortion which was later found to have some origination from Phil's pick ups in the new 6 string bass.
This upload is from a fresh master take off with a newly serviced cassette deck. The old takeoff exhibits lots of tape flutter and channel swapping. The original 24 bit post of these masters was:

The tour story:
Mike finally joined the crew on tour a few shows late, with unripped tickets to those shows. Of course, Kenny had been running the new AKG C422 at those other shows with Sean being the glue there. We were to crash at Sean's mother's house, with some of us crashing at Gary's. I would say they had at least four or five guests aside from their usual family and local deadhead friends. The first thing I heard upon getting to the tapers on the lawn was John Borg saying "Welcome to Summer Tour 1985".
The first set is so nice. After opening with "Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo" and using the first few minutes as a soundcheck, they got nice and summer mellow, getting everyone to dance lazily in the blazing heat. Jerry and Brent wet into a MIDI battle during "See See Rider" almost mocking Bobby's slide leads. The MIDI really took over at the beginning of "Mexicali Blues" in a slightly comical manner. They really kicked into high gear for the bustout, the third time ever played, "Keep On Growing" with Phil sharing the chorus with Brent [They would play this song only once more, in 1986]. During the "Brown Eyed Women" Brent laid down some serious chords on top of Jerry's leads. Bobby cut short the "let it Grow" at about 7.5 minutes and Jerry seemed to say, "Hey bud, I WANTED to play that solo"; so he slipped into "Don't Ease Me In" which left us sweaty and gasping for air after dancing our butts off in that heat.
Set 2 opened with some strange noises which seemed to be Phil burping at the end of it. Another 3 minutes of "warming up" led into a loose, slow, heat inspired "Shakedown Street" reminding some in the crowd, "maybe you had too much too fast". The pre drums run is highlighted by the "Cryptical" at the end of "He's Gone". Like they threw it in as an afterthought. But the drums and lead out of space left no doubt they were going to rip into "the Other One". They even eeked out a tiny Spanish jam tease as they started the bubbly underbeat, then Phil attacks it with a bass bomb vengeance while Jerry soars into the solos. The ending of the set is standard fare setlist wise, with a pretty "Stella Blue" and a barnburner Sugar Mags.
