Notes:
regarding the odd voices through the show:
from LMA user: Bzl
"the sound effects is the same "Harry, Harry" female voiceover that Healy was messing around with most of the summer. One can assume it's monitor man Harry Popich (?) that Healy's busting on. It is a bit much."
From LMA user Wrigly:
"The sound effects you are all referring to (i.e.: "Bobby" and others) were recorded by Brent Mydland and he used to play them during shows - I think to drive Bobby nuts. I remember them mostly in the mid-1980s"

the tour story:
The summer heat of Texas was a factor in everyone's enjoyment level for this show. The absolute craziness which occurred for me at the start of the second set was a factor in my enjoyment level for sure. I was standing front row in the tapers section when Dennis McNally (GD publicist and "gatekeeper"] comes up to me with his glasses around his neck, urgently asking if I could help to get this EMT crew with an injured woman "to the perimiter where the ambulance is". They didn't have a stretcher, they had her in a fireman's carry with two guys and a woman EMT was holding their gear while tending to the woman. Dennis gave me his giant 4 D Cell flashlight and I led them to the Jerry side over the fencing, toward the rear vending area, where ambulances were sitting. The woman had been badly cut in the upper leg with a knife, while up front by what she called gang members. John Goode later told me he was unsurprised as he saw many rough types and some crazy situations in front of the soundboard.
Of course, after my excitement of guiding them across a huge field of dancing, tripping deadheads, I realized I had to get back to the dead center of the field! I used the huge flashlight aimed down at the ground over my head, like I did on the way out, through part of the more crowded areas to make it back. Once back, I was telling my friends what happened, and Phil who had fallen asleep and missed the entire incident about 7 feet to his left, looked around for his small cooler and couldn't locate it. It was then I recalled the EMT's had taken it, mistaking it for theirs, when they started carrying the hurt person out behind my flashlight!
Talk about short sets, this second set clocks in under 90 minutes. The pre-drums song count, at two, must be a record low aside from some 74 or some era I'm unaware of. The "Terrapin Station" starts off good enough, but at less than 12 minutes, is certainly no jammed out lengthy version. They save the show a bit with the post drums, including a two song encore with "She Belongs To Me" in the first slot, followed by the expected "One More Saturday Night". The "Stella Blue" was pretty fine with Jerry's vocals a bit flat but emotional guitar all throughout.I'm sure the high heat didn't help but the band seemed less excited to be playing in Austin as we were by them being there.
