01   Tony remembering the day of the interview

02   Tony gives the listeners a rundown on what the Dead are all about.

03   How the band got their name

excerpt from "Ship Of Fools" played

04   Jerry says that the band have exceeded all of his expectations.

excerpt from "Uncle John's Band" played

05   They've always had a non-polical stance and never wanted to persuade anybody about any particular path to take, be it
       drugs or whatever.

"Ripple" and "Looks Like Rain" played

06   They discuss how the band have managed to grow artistically compared to other bands of their era.
The world was terribly dull in the 70's but our music continued to grow.
Why have the band survived when other West Coast bands from their era haven't.

excerpt from "The Other One" played

07   Garcia: we are not about making records, it's just something that we do because they are there.
We prefer the spontaneity of live performance.

excerpt from "Playing In The Band" played.

Comments:

- The tape showed a date of 03/19/1981 however Tony mentions "the gig that evening" so it was probably the next day, 20th March.  They were over in London for a 4 night run at The Rainbow. *
- The box which contained the reel shows that the interview ran for 33 minutes but there is only about 22 minutes included in this recording.

Notes:

- Track 1 was not on Tim's tape. I've taken it from the North West Sound Heritage website and is lossy.

- Al tracks have been speed corrected and several dropouts repaired.
- There ar musical interludes for which tracks from official releases have been used. These have been removed for copyright reasons.

Thanks to Tim McKenzie for providing this source.

Thanks to Charlie Miller for transferring the tape.
