I question the source info on this one. I taped this show and heavily traded my source soon after. It was Core Sound Cardioids -> M1. There was one point on my recording that I always hated... during track 7, 'I Got Shit', some idiot deliberately leaned over and yelled into my mics. That is clearly on this recording as well... track 7, 3min 45sec

I'd say that it was impossible that another taper was standing close enough for their gear to hear it, yet me not notice they were taping.

I do know a guy that taped this with AKGs, but he never circulated his tape because he was not happy with it at all. He traded out mine instead. My guess is that there was confusion early on and someone he traded with thought it was his gear. Maybe.

This mix still sounds great though.

Spacedvest:
Matt, I hear ya...I will forward what you said to Fred (the guy who put this together) and see what he says...did you happen to tape any other PJ shows?

matt3846:
I taped Atlanta and Consitution Hall in 98. My Consitution Hall recording did not turn out that great, due to my own fault, so I never circulated it. Other sources were much better. I think I put my recording of 'Patriot' from that night out there because it was decent, but not the rest. -- I also taped them at TFC in 98 on a minidisc with cheap mics, but it sounded like crap and I never put it out there.

Also, I emailed with the AKG friend of mine that also taped this show. He said that looks like his rig, but he never put his tape out there because it sounded "like ass".

Spacedvest:
Thanks for the information...Hard To Imagine actually has two CS>M1 sources listed. One is noted as being in the "back right". There is only one AKG source, so if what you say is true, then that has to be your source.

The Constitution Hall is one that I will spread too soon...I already did the artwork for it already. Patriot was actually supposedly taken from an Countryman > M1 source. Anyway, thanks for your info, I just emailed Fred.

Spacedvest:
Matt,

It looks like there must have been an error made, probably early on, like you suggested. So your rig was CSC->M1? You didn't use a pre-amp? Do you remember where you were located? I want to correct the source info using your information.

Thanks again for pointing out the error!
Allen

matt3846:
Yep, CSC -> M1... no pre-amp. Towards the back of section 202, close to the inner aisle. Here's the seating chart if you need it. http://www.ticketmaster.com/seatingchart/114696/1131

Spacedvest:
Alright, thanks to Matt, this is the correct source info:

Source: 2-source mix: [Core Sound Cardioids > Sony PCM-M1 (sec. 202, near inner aisle) > dat > cdr > dEdit > cdr] + [Sonic Studios > Sony TCD-D7 > dat > cdr] > dEQ > shn > flac

Leehro:
Don't you mean Sony PCM-M1, and not SBM-1? SBM-1 is a A/D converter... PCM-M1 is the DAT deck

Spacedvest:
es I did, sorry...I edited my mistakes up above. Sorry for the confusion. I am now going to get a beer.
